Garlic
Hi All,
My dog trainer has suggested and sent to me a recipe for liver cake or liver muffin as a high value training treat. the recipe she has sent is asking for garlic powder or 2 garlic cloves and also onion powder. is this safe for my 5m/o puppy?
thanks.

Re: Garlic
I'd stay well clear of anything containing onions as they are toxic to dogs. Garlic in small amounts is really good for dogs

Re: Garlic
just double checked the recipe, at least 1 tablespoon of garlic powder and 1 tablespoon of onion powder
Re: Garlic
I'd skip the onion powder Jordan. I don't think it would make too much difference to the final product.
A friend of mine makes liver cake for her GSD and it's meant to be fantastic.

Re: Garlic
Hi Jordan, how did the liver treats go? I make them for my two and they go nuts for it. I also do a similar thing with pilchards and they will sit and wait at the oven until it's ready!

Hey Lisa, it came out pretty good. She works for it. The texture is pretty interesting and it holds together pretty well, I can cut it down to little bite size cubes easily. What's your pilchards treat?
Re: Garlic
The pilchard bread is very easy and makes a mushy, soft treat that's easy to digest.
I mash up a tin of pilchards and mix with 1 egg and just enough flour to get a cake-like consistency. Stick it in the oven for about 20 minutes and they go mad for it :-)
