Why is she bleeding?
She was in season about 5 months ago, had puppies about 8 weeks ago with her old owner, now she keeps bleeding not to much but still bleeding, do bitches normally bleed after they had puppies or something? Is it normal?

Re: Why is she bleeding?
I have found this on the internet
''Post-delivery bleeding is considered normal until 12 weeks after the litter was born. If the bleeding continues for longer than 12 weeks, it is likely a condition known as sub-involuted placental sites (SIPS). This is a condition in which the placental sites have not healed properly and have, in essence, stopped trying to heal. This is a mild condition that can be treated. If your dog's bleeding continues for greater than 12 weeks, you should see your veterinarian for hormonal treatments. Chronic degenerative radiculomyelopathy (CDRM)''
Not sure how accurate that info is, perhaps worth a quick phone call to the vet to confirm this is true?

Re: Why is she bleeding?
Oh that explains a lot!
Thanks about that, it's still been 8 weeks since she's had the puppies so i'll give her a few more weeks but her bleeding is not much and she hardly bleeds, only about 3 times a day or so it should be ok.

When we got her 4 days ago the puppies were 8 weeks.Jackieb wrote:May have missed how u rehomed her with u - but wouldn't her pups only be 8wks now then ?
She was very skinny and was starving, you feel all her ribs and spine.
They had loads of dogs and only wanted her to breed her and my mum felt sorry for how badly she was treated and rehomed her, she also had some scars near her belly and paws where the dogs use bite her and she could hardly walks because she was that skinny, getting better now, you can still feel her spine and ribs but she's putting on weight.
I'm not worried about the bleeding, I wasn't sure if it was normal for her to be bleeding as I never had a dog who has had puppies. My mom thought somehow she was still in her season and that would explain the bleeding and also the reason why my boy keeps sniffing her so much and everything she touches he sniffs it.

Well done Joe's mum for rescuing this poor dog. I'll bet she's still missing her pups too.

Ahh I see, thx for the catchup
Ok, just be aware of any infection, as u have only just got her, would u be taking her to ur vet for a checkup ? Being so thin and run down her immune system is probably compromised ?
All the best - she will need lot of tlc xx

Re: Why is she bleeding?
Yes my mum will be taking her to the vets this weekend to see if she's all ok, she was given to us for free (it's a bit weird so we want to make sure she's ok) although she seems fine, the only thing i wasn't sure about was if the bleeding was normal it's hardly anything though.

Re: Why is she bleeding?
Ok, well thankgod shes found a loving family.
It's prolly just residual bleeding/spotting from the litter, but great ur mom is having her checked over, need to think about worming etc anyway.
All the best with her x
