A few questions
Cassie went to be spayed on the 1st of march, now my questions are; can the anesthetic give her a sore throat? i know it sounds daft but her bark sounds a bit hoarse, she is sulking lots is it because she is only being walked for 10 mins at a time or is she still adjusting to her op or other things at home? how long before we can go for a long walk to talk heart to heart? and will the swelling around her stitches go down or is that how it will stay?

Re: A few questions
All of these things are very normal Ali.
She will go through a few days of seeming very down and lethargic. It may even seem as if she's depressed. But she is just re-adjusting and in a few days she will be as right as rain. Same applies with the swelling. In a few days it should show a big improvement.
Just keep your eye on her with the stitches that she isn't able to get at them.

Re: A few questions
Sounds normal. If they put a pipe down her throat she can sound a bit hoarse or like she's coughing. The swelling will go down. We were able to get back to long walks within about two weeks if I remember correctly.

Re: A few questions
I remember Millie being a bit off and seemed a little groggy for a couple of days. Her scar was a little swollen and looked a bit lumpy but it did settle in time

Re: A few questions
i can remember my old dog been the same and that is going back some years! she was off for a few days. If she seems to have a sore throat may be just keep her on the chicken and rice as this is softer than her food.
before you know it it will just be a little pink scar

Re: A few questions
All normal Think it was almost 3 weeks before Tilly started to get decent walks again as the internal stitches have to heal as well, if you have any doubt just recheck with your vet . She will probably be readjusting too so big >< from Tilly and Tommy
