Naughty Dempsey
Dempsey's been naughty again. My oh took him for his usual late afternoon run today & while he was at the park a guy with 2 JRT's let his dogs run over to him.
Now, most of you know Dempsey's a little bit dominant & won't take any growling or barking from another dog, so what does one of the JR's do? Yep, you guessed it, he ran straight at Dempse & snarled at him, almost nose to nose!
Next thing oh knew was Dempsey had the other dog pinned to the ground with his teeth an inch from the dog's neck. But as my oh got hold of Dempsey's collar to pull him away the JR suddenly twisted away & launched himself at his arm! Oh, dear. Not a good move - Dempsey adores his master! Half a second later the JR's neck was firmly in Demspey's jaws & the other guy was going mental, while my oh was trying to calm things down.
Eventually seperated them, and guess what? Other than a very soggy neck, there was no marks on the JR at all!

Re: Naughty Dempsey
Well i suppose it is a good dempsey in a way protecting his master but naughty dempsey for having a go at the jr bless him kaiser has gone really bad on the lead if we go past a dog he will growl at it think it is a front thing because when he is off the lead he runs around playing with every dog in sight no problem

Re: Naughty Dempsey
Well i dont no about everyone else but i think a bit of protectiveness is defo a good thing. I took the dogs down the field for a run over the weekend and a GSD "attacked" kaos, i say attacked it wasnt really but it was defo being very agressive to him and snapping. Kaos ran and hid behind me and Ty and this GSD ending up scrapping. Ty had him by the neck and was trying to rag him but obv couldnt, owner nowhere to be seen. After a bit of serious shouting at Ty i managed to get him back to me and on lead. Fortunatley the other dogs owner was very appoligetic even with puncher wounds on the GSDs neck and a fair bit of blood. Im just kinda hoping this doesnt mean Ty gonna become really over the top protective of kaos if u no what i mean.

Poor Kaos! And he's only young, but I'm sure he'll defend himself when he's older & Ty won't need to get involved.
My oh wasn't bothered about it to be honest. He got used to Bandit being dog aggressive, but as long as people keep their own dogs away Dempsey isn't a problem. Most people we come across are fine with that & know to keep their dogs away, but some just won't listen!
