Excessive licking
Darcy has started over the last few days to lick her left foot a lot? It's quite red inbetween her toes, any advice guys? I would be very great-full. Thx

Re: Excessive licking
Moo went through a stage of licking her inside front leg so it was sore.
I just used sudacrem and a 'leave it' command when I caught her. She grew out of it Xx

Re: Excessive licking
Tilly did the same, we thought it may be her teeth, the vet thought it might be the grit. Either way she prescribed done anti- fungal cream and within 72 hours she'd stopped licking :-)

Re: Excessive licking
As Janey said Sudocream and a leave it command.. Also after being outside wash her paws in a little warm water and dry well.. Sometimes it is caused by grass seeds etc..

Re: Excessive licking
You could also try distracting her with a favourite toy so that it doesn't become a compulsive thing.

Re: Excessive licking
Logan did this a lot at one stage, the vet said it was to do with yeast build up on his skin. He had 7 days of simple medicine and it cleared up. The forum has also taught me that a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar per meal in his meal lowers the amount of natural yeast.
He barely ever does it at all now
