The "things Lucy doesn't like" list...
Well we've had Lucy for just over one week now, and a list of things she doesn't seem to like, or reacts funnily/strangely to is coming together! It's growing so I thought I'd start writing it down on here, so far:
1. Mud! She seems to really dislike getting her tootsies dirty (a good thing for the carpet, I suppose!)
2. Long grass. Maybe she doesn't like not seeing where she's going....
3. Water (except drinking it!). She's not interested in paddling in the stream at all, which is a first for me, all my previous dogs used to charge in!
4. The hot water bottle. No idea why, she goes crackers when she see's it! Not in a scared way, just sort of cautiously excited, if that makes sense! She runs at it then runs away again barking!
5. 2 litre cola etc bottles. Now these she seems a bit scared of.... in the same way she seems scared of.....
6. .......the newspaper. I'm assuming she was smacked with a rolled up paper by her previous owner when she was naughty, as she goes very low and nervous if she spots it.
7. Squeaky toys. I wasn't expecting this one, I thought she'd love them... but no, the squeak sends her under the table quick-sharp! Luckily she's got a nice silent pull-rope to play with instead!

Aaawww, she's scared of quite a few things. Hopefully in time she'll learn it's nothing to be scared of . Only thing Loki's scared of is the hairdryer, which is stupid because the hoover is louder and he doesn't care at all. Weirdo.

Poor Lucy, she's a nervous little dog at the moment, and she's still settling into her "forever" home (which she doesn't realise yet).
My advice would be to take things very quietly, one thing at a time. No fuss - none of these things are the end of the world.

Loki loves umbrellas, especially abandoned ones, he drags me to them and then wags his tail on super-fast mode
Yeah, Lucy's still settling in, and sounds like she's been hit with things a few times, poor girl gonna take her a while to understand things are different this time around.

They all have their own little ways , some I'm sure like water etc are maybe just her and others are possibly part of her past , you just have to let her settle and develop her own real character , she's a little beauty

AAww bless, I've had my rescue staffie for 3 months now and he is still finding his way around and settling down. I think he now realises he is home but we are taking things slowly and introducing him to new things all the time.
Hoover, Oh the hoover, attack bite bark, definitely not a favourite together with the hairdryer.
I have just recently started to take him swimming to get used to water and also use some of the boundless energy. The first time he just panicked and splashed everywhere but teh second time he strated to swim properly. Eventually, i hope he will just run and jump in and enjoy playing with all the toys they provide, it certainly wears him out
I think it just takes time for them to realise they have a loving new home, get used to new things and know that you care and love them

Marley goes mad at the pooper scooper. Only when it's in my hand though. I have had to switch to poop bags. The joy of a warm turd. I think my ignorant sister chased Marley snapping the scooper, i seen her do it to her dog once.

10. Snow (possibly due to the fact she was abandoned in the middle of a snowy night, chained to the gate at the rescue centre )

I remember the days when Ginny was scared of mud... She got over it, now my garden looks like we keep pigs.
