Who lets their dogs on the bed?
Dog trainers will tell you not to let your dogs sleep on your bed and to be honest I pretty much agree with this school of thought. Doesn't mean I abide by it though lol

Yes Rocky has a very comfy super king size bed to sprawl out on which we are sometimes allowed to share with him.

Lol good for you. I don't abide by that rule at all either. Nothing I like more than laying up chilling with the pup.
One person told me it's wrong that I call Logan "baby boy" a lot of the time and that he should be treated like a dog more....yea right!

Mine sleep in their cages at night (in the bedroom). However approximately 7am Lola cries to come to bed she likes to lie under the duvet. If it wakes Lily she does the same

No choice in the matter, Millie has the bed along with the two cats and now Loki, thankfully they usually sleep in my daughters room, she has now got a double bed which we bought her last year to accomodate them all tho saying that Millie has been coming to bed with me a lot lately.xx

The sad part is.. I know that. I'm building my self up to be the fearless loving awesome kick * Staffy trainer. but I know the minute I hold her/him it's ALLLLLLLL OVER lol Cause I'm too soft. It's the hubs that wears the pants round here and I'm not shamed to admit that ha ha ha.. I guess it'll be no different with our Staffy, he'll be the bad guy and I'll be the one that babies lol

Re: Who lets their dogs on the bed?
I don't. We don't let Loki on the furniture (my parents' house, their rules ) so I didn't want it to confuse him. Plus, although I'm not allergic to dogs, dog hair does annoy my skin, so I guess that'd be a bad idea. Shame though, he's lovely and warm

Re: Who lets their dogs on the bed?
We started of not allowing Maggie on the furniture or bed but it didnt last Not being allowed on the sofa lasted a couple of days after we got her, those eyes of hers work a treat on me and I think we lasted about a month or so before she ended up on the bed with us at night. She was really crafty with that one, it kinda happened without us realising Now I couldn't not have her up there She tends to sleep on top of the covers and has only got under a couple of times, first time being 3am while I was at home on my own. Scared the poop out of me, this warm furry thing rubbing against my legs as she tried to get comfy

Luckily, Dempsey doesn't know his own strength and doesn't know that he could easily jump onto the bed. He will, however, jump up so that his paws and head are peering over the edge. His eyes go huge and his ears fold back. Looks so soft and sweet!

Re: Who lets their dogs on the bed?
I feel mean now seeing all these lovely pics but we couldn't let Taz upstairs at night he was such a fidgit and would keep my OH who is a light sleeper awake all night.....he has a job that requires lots of concentration so it was no good.
He had the run of the house during the day though and slept on the sofas at night downstairs.

I vowed never to let caley on the settee or in the bed....8 months later, has her favourite spot on settee. Have only recently left her crate open at night and brought her a lovely new bed...come 3am I discover one young lady under the bedcovers snoring away...do not have the heart to boot her off

Re: Who lets their dogs on the bed?
Have you ever tried keeping a staffie of your bed? good luck, I know of a lady who had always had labs, she decided to have a staffie after her last lab went to rainbow bridge. Her and hubby never ever let the labs on bed furniture etc, they said the same would happen with the staff, yea right she taught her new mum and dad how a staffie house should be within 24 hrs lol yep staffies really do like their home comforts

Re: Who lets their dogs on the bed?
Marley is on my bed before me and laska starts off sleeping under it but joins us sometime during the night. If i have to let em out for a pee at an ungodly hour marley gets under the covers with me when we get back upstairs and he generates so much heat im throwing the covers off. Only complaint is there bloody determination to sleep from side to side of the bed so im either crunched up in a ball or trying to shove my legs under two heavy lumps....wouldnt change it though as waking on a sat morning with two happy faces staring at me is perfect start to weekend

Re: Who lets their dogs on the bed?
Though my little fellow has a fabulous bed of his own, he is allowed on one of our covered sofas, so he can enjoy movie-watching with us. He doesn't have movie genre preferences and he's quite happy with whatever we watch. He knows that it's not his bed and he (sort of) waits for permission before jumping up.
There’s no easy way to say this, so I must be blunt. You see, despite being very cute and loveable, his manners are imperfect. When outdoors, he will often find the most disgusting things to eat and roll about in, before running proudly into the house. I'm not obsessively tidy, but I prefer to have no fragments of rotting seagull or sun-baked poo where I recline. Even when he passes pre-sofa hygiene inspection, he can still turn heads. If his butt is itchy, he will shamelessly toboggan across the floor on it. This isn't worm-related, just a generic itch. Worse, he did it once on the sofa. I was appalled and ordered him off the sofa and I set the cover on a boil-wash cycle afterwards. He looked at me like I had over-reacted, since rectal itching can surely strike anyone and what’s a pooch to do?
Anyway, I would really prefer this didn't happen where I lay my head at night. We don't allow him on the bed, regardless of how cuddly and helpless he makes himself look.
Resist! The moment passes! You are not a bad person for defining 'human only' spaces in your home:)

Re: Who lets their dogs on the bed?
Toby sleeps on the bed whilst im working nights and in his bed beside ours when im home(the girlfriends choice). At about 7am he puts his front paws onto the bed to wake me up and gives me the please can i come under the covers. Every time i tell him to jump up, but he stays there until lift him in bed(hes perfectly capable of jumping up). Hes normaly straight under the blanket. Only prob is he will sleep with his tail pointing towards us. We can sometime be bombarded with staffy farts. Not fun

Izzy will sleep anywhere..shes such a lazy dog but she does prefer to jump up beside me and take up the WHOLE bed, and snore all night long! But shes too cute to move so I deal with having to sleep on my side and not roll over onto the floor

Re: Who lets their dogs on the bed?
Mine (Teddy) sleeps in bed with me.
He understands the word Bedtime and most nights curls up right next to me and goes out like a light.
I sometimes wake up with the dangerous end, not the end with ears, stuck in my face.
My take is, this is his home too so he is allowed where he likes as long as he does not cause damage.

Re: Who lets their dogs on the bed?
Ledger definitely knows the word 'bed' and if I leave the stairgate open at mine or the door open at my parents he will take himself off to my bed early and make himself a nest in the duvet which I then have to unpeal from under him otherwise he sleeps alongside me and when its cold he will snuggle under the duvet and cwtch up close to me
my parents dogs have never really been on the furniture but Ledger now is actively encouraged up for cuddles even my brother relents to the staffy love

Re: Who lets their dogs on the bed?
Pixee sleeps in her bed in our bedroom, when the alarm goes off, she will put her front paws on the bed, its her clue to say, hey make room for me, there she will go under our duvet and stay put till she is ready to come downstairs for her morning walk and breakfast, bless her. On a weekend, as the alarm does not always go off, she still wakes up at the same time, paws on bed, nose in my face , and up she comes. Right now, she is fast a sleep on our bed after making a nest to curl up in. Lazy Madam

Nightly fight to find space in the bed with the Stelly being greedy and taking up more space than me and the bf do!!!!!!!
But that look we cant kick her out.....
and always amusing to see who she has chosen to annoy all night long so other can get some sleep... and yes she hogs sofas also and the heat from the fire!!

Re: Who lets their dogs on the bed?
We were quite strict about this but somehow Mia's very gradually worked her way into the bed with us over the past year.
We always make her begin the night in her own bed but she's figured out that if she either waits until we're asleep, or at least too tired to resist, she can find her way under the covers. She's not exactly stealthy either, and rather than burrowing under the duvet she usually pushes it across the bed until one of us realises and lets her in.
She normally sleeps on or around our legs but in the last couple of weeks I've woken up to find her sleeping between us with her bloody head on the pillow. She did it this morning in fact, although I had to slide her back down when she almost pushed me out of bed.
