Smile Another Good Walk

Post by Guest Sat Feb 09 2013, 13:57

I don't know why, but lately something has just clicked with Logan and he is so well behaved.

I haven't really done anything different, and I'm a rubbish dog trainer. Lately though he is meeting other dogs and getting a good play, never pulling and generally making my life a lot easier!

I have been walking him on a 20ft lead everywhere (apart from along roads) and he is really enjoying it. When we are meeting dogs I'm just leaving the line slack and letting him socialise. I know in my head I can always pull him back if need be and because I'm not making a fuss he isn't either. Smile

We even met nasty little barking dogs and Logan just walked past as if he couldn't care less. Surprised

He has always been pretty good with most dogs, then really bad with a small minority. But I can't help but think a lot of it has been due to me tensing up. In other words in future I think I have to be a big boy and stop making a scene Laughing

Haha thanks! I think the long lead has made all the difference, he used to be off the lead all the time because he is a friendly boy but he has had a few too many run in's now and I don't like him being off when he could get into bother.

I've asked for a heavy duty extending lead for Valentines Day...

How romantic am I!? Laughing

Wow and they say romance is dead Laughing

Sometimes things just click into place all of their own accord. Either that or all the training pays off and it has finally sunk in Laughing

Its a natural reaction to make the lead shorter when you think your dog is going to get himself in trouble and this in itself makes the dog anxious. But easier said than done Sad

Great that you are such a Romantic Laughing

Brilliant news Smile whatever the reason, glad Logan's been on his best behaviour recently. Funny, barking/aggressive dogs are the only dogs Loki doesn't try to drag me towards Laughing shame, really. Great that Logan's able to have a good play with other dogs, it's always nice when you can do that.
