No, they're not. York Minster want it, but it's already been decided that Leicester Cathedral with have it. It's fitting, I suppose, as the Battle of Bosworth is just outside Leicester & he died there & was buried in Leicester originally.

You are not the only history nerd on here Caryll , I have found this fascinating as well.
I didn't realise he was only 32 when he was killed in battle. What a life he packed into those short years, and still controversy rages over him (Princes in the Tower etc). A fascinating man and I look forward to learning more about him.

Re: Richard III's body found
Yes, that would be good.
I haven't seen the "stabbed in the bum" theory - how could they tell unless there was damage to the coccyx? However, it may well have happened after his death - revenge on a hated person's body after death is not unknown.
I must admit that a lot of my interest is archeological - how many kings' bones do they get to poke around with, run tests on and discover all sorts of fascinating details about their lives and deaths that bones and teeth can now tell them. For bringing the past to life nothing beats it, in my opinion.
And then, of course, he must be buried properly. He may well have had a decent burial initially, but now he's been unearthed, it must be done again.

From written records they know that his naked body was slung over a horse & paraded through the town. From a 'stab' mark on his pelvis, and from the angle of the wound, it would appear that someone probably took a stab at him as he went past.
He'll be given a full burial at Leicester Cathedral next year. There are still tests to be done, I would think, and the arrangements will be massive as the Royal Family have already said that they want to be represented. The security alone will take months to arrange!

Re: Richard III's body found
William Shakespeare has a lot to answer for regarding Richard 111, he portrayed him as a thoroughly wicked and cruel man, which he wasn't. More will come to light in the future I'm sure

Re: Richard III's body found
Finally caught up and watched this. Thank god for nutters. If it wasn't for her putting in the work he would still be undiscovered. The woman was a bit of a nutter like but I wanted to smack that other woman who wouldn't put the flag over the box. Kept sticking her nose up at this woman, like she was something better than her cos she had a degree etc. She might not of had a degree but she researched and researched and got the result that so many have failed in getting, good on her
