Billy And Kitten

He was such an amazing staffy.
Being completely loyal to the pack family, Billy graciously accepted, entertained and helped a kitty become a cat.
I trusted him so completely that one day when they were playing, Billy had the kitten pinned to the ground and put his massive jaws completely over the kittens head I didn't panic or intervene. I just watched in amazement as he slowly clamped his jaws around his head until the kitty let out a small cry and he immediately let go. They both got up and then the kitten chased him to the other room :-)

Oh Lord, I suspected as much. I am SO sorry, how hard it is.

We can only comfort ourselves that we did the very best we could for our loved ones at the end of their lives. I hope that your post on the Memorial forum has given you some comfort. It's early days and it will take time to remember Billy with more gladness than sadness, but it will come, sooner or later.

Interesting note. I had not seen the cat for ages and he just turned up on the back porch this morning to say hello. Is it possible that the cat knows that Billy is gone?

I think they got along so well because Billy, being totally driven by pack rules, knew that this kitten was a part of the family and as such, had to be entertained, taught, and tolerated until he grew up. Things changed once the kitty became a cat and the cat found a better home somewhere else in the neighborhood. Pretty sure the sushi shop down the street took him in (score!). Either way he looks very healthy today. Maybe too healthy!

Stranger things have happend Lamar. Try as we might, I don't think we humans will ever absolutely understand how our animals' physches work.

Lovely video, you can tell by their body language that they both completely trust each other which is great to see.
