Tiring Out Dog Inside the House?
To make a long story short, I've had severe eczema for about five years now, and the past week or so it's severe even by severe's standards. It's gotten to the point where I can't walk Loki and can only play with him for a few minutes at a time. My parents have been helping me by playing with him more and taking him for a walk, but it's only 30 minutes a day or so. I feel so sorry for him, he's absolutely full of energy, he's just been running around like a rocket when I've been playing fetch with him. He's absolutely bursting with energy and I feel so guilty not being able to take him on his proper walks. I've decided tomorrow I'll just endure the pain and walk him as long as I can manage it and let him have a run around. It won't be enough, but it's better than nothing. Anyway, for the rest of the time until I'm better, is there any way to tire him out or let him burn off some energy in the house? Tug-of-war is good, but...very exhausting to play with a hyperactive strong dog.

Oh dear that sounds awful..
I tire Ramsey out sometimes playing indoors. I just keep throwing something he wants to chase onto the bed so that he has to keep jumping up which is really good exercise.. So up down up down up down up down lol.. Knackered.

Multiple training sessions and a hide and seek with treats are both good methods. Also a homemade sling pole if you have the room and materials would be a big help.

Ohh Tara, you poor girl, I have seen the effects of severe eczema and realise how painful it must be, I hope you feel better soon ><
As for tiring him out I can only offer the usual things like a kong, stagbar and some training sessions etc.. tug must be painful for you I'm sorry I'm not much help..

I know it's not ideal, but you could pick up a cheap running machine, seen a couple of people do it online.

If you have stairs you could play fetch up and down those or you could build some jumps like a mini agility course and throw balls over so he has to jump over to fetch. If its raining I usually do this and 20 minutes later hes flopped on the floor. Also thinking games seems to tire them out a lot - must be hard work for them to concentrate, hope this helps

Thanks guys I guess there isn't much to be done except games and exercise. I'll take him out tomorrow morning anyway, hopefully it'll be enough to somewhat help with his pent up energy until it can all get back to normal.

Sorry to hear this the weather doesnt help eczema at this time of year, sounds silly but have you a friend who could help aswell to do a brisk lead walk. How about a small flash light and dim the lights would he chase it? U wouldnt have to move much. I hope you get better soon
