Walkies time
Does anyone have the same problem as me? When i get ready to take Katy out for a walk, she only has to hear the word walkies or see the harness & she's of hiding under the table or bed She seems quite happy once we are out, but when i put the harness on her the ears go down & she looks so upset. I have tried rotating what she wears as she has 2 different types of harness & a collar but she will still hide from me. Any suggestions welcome

Re: Walkies time
We have the exact opposite problem to be honest but Suki when through a phase like you are experiencing as well. We started to put her harness or collar on in the house and reward with a treat without going anywhere. We would also leave it on for a time because she would try to bite whatever we put on her. It took her awhile to get used to wearing them but know she knows that she gets to go out when she wears them so its easy now

Every time haha
I just kneel down with Logan's harness in my hand and wait for him to eventually come out. It normally takes about 2 minutes. But he does come out and allows me to put it on. If I was to try to "catch" him he would panic and run away, and it would make things a lot worse.
I'd suggest doing the same. Just take her harness out and call her, she will she the harness and hide. But just kneel down and wait, calling her every now and again in a comforting voice. Then when she comes praise her heavily in a real happy voice.

Thanks. She doesn't seem uncomfortable once they are on. We have been putting them on her since she was about 9wks old so she is used to them. Perhaps she doesn't want to go out & would rather sleep instead I never chase her to catch her. I tend to head to the front door & she thinks she might be left behind & she's not having that! Then we can get her ready to go out

Re: Walkies time
We had a similar problem with Bacchus. He loved to go out but hated walking on the lead. Then it just seemed to suddenly dawn on him that the collar and lead meant fun. Now he sits to have his collar put on and off and also to have the leash clipped on and off.
She will eventually work out that the pros outweigh the cons.

Re: Walkies time
Have you just tried walking on collar rather than using a harness? XX

Re: Walkies time
Yes we have used a collar. I dont have any problem once we are out, its just the initial sight of the collar or harness that she hides from

Re: Walkies time
Marley is pretty good, she will sit at the front of her cage but as soon as she hears the clip of the collar she is ready to go. We will be able to take her out soon as she is due for her last shot on the 8th of February.
