perants and puppies
hi guys, would anybody have an insight to know if it is wise to keep puppies( once they have their own homes) in contact with their mums and dads,or is this a bit cruel in some way.we where thinking of taking them to see their puppies when we visit, whats your views please,we dont know if it would be upsetting for either of them

Re: perants and puppies
how old are the puppies? if there young then that would be distressing for the mother. Until the puppies are atleast 4 months I wouldnt do it.

Re: perants and puppies
Once they've been apart for a couple of months, like Jason says, they won't really remember each other too well, so it'll be ok. Until then, the pups will still try to suckle their mum & she won't be too happy with it!

Re: perants and puppies
You won't upset them emotionally the mother would more likely be peed off at the pups if they try to suckle. I remember I let my lab bitch see her daughter and she snapped at her and she had never snapped at a dog before and her daughter didn't even do anything but sniff her lol

Also I will stress that nature dictates that offspring is a threat because they will try to take the mother away from New puppies so parents sometimes just won't like their offspring all together.

We keep in contact with our new puppy owners and go for walks together. They dont seem to mind and all have a great time! Just be aware that they aren't little puppies any more so mum & dad might not want to be jumped all over by 15kg lumps! There might be some squabbles etc x
