We have a list of recommended foods as in the link below. Rocky would recommend Barking Heads TLC:

There are a number of good foods out there. The link Kathy sent is very useful.

One thing to bare in mind is even if it's great food your girl mightent like the brand. A lot of dogs are quite picky, especially when it comes to new foods. You could try the smaller "tester" types bags until you find something that works well.

Unlike me, who bought a big bag recently to save a few quid and Logan hates it. doh

I have had Bacchus on Orijen Puppy from day one and he thrives on it as you can see.

dry food recomendations - Food DSC00506_zpsaca6d6ab

His poos are firm and his coat is shiny

At first glance it appears very expensive ( around £60 for 13.5 kilos) but you can feed less. He is now 6 months and gets less than 300grams per day. But as Mat says, try a smaller bag to ascertain whether he likes it or not.

Another thing to bare in mind is £60 sounds a lot but if you use 300grams per day that means it costs you £1.33 per day and a tin a rubbish dog food in the shop beside my house is near £1. So, the big bags of good dog food are not expensive at all really when you think of what you are getting in comparison to other brands.

It's also a matter of what suits! Although the really bad ones should be avoided at all costs, most of the medium range & better range ones offer good nutrition, and if your dog thrives on it, then why not use it? Big Grin

Totally agree Caryll. I have contemplated moving on to a slightly less expensive brand but don't want to mess about as he's doing so well on it.

It is slightly cheaper than that Mat as he is only getting about 270grams per day. I am having to mix it with a little Arden Grange at the moment to spin it out as the Orijen consignment was only due in this country on 21st Jan.

Thanks Mat. His training is still a work in progress though. Am currently working on sitting at the kerb and waiting for the command to cross. He does his sit wait and recall to sit in front, even when in a full class with other dogs around. When returning from our walks he now goes straight to his towel to have his feet and tummy wiped then, when I start to remove my boots he brings my slippers. Love Struck Love Struck
That's the beauty of this forum, you don't feel like a bore when letting people know how proud you are of your dog.
