Lump on Raffertys back, getting a little bigger
My 7 yr old full bred staffordshire bull terrier Rafferty developed a small hard lump on his back about 5 months ago. It is now more noticeable as his fur is not covering it. I took him to a very well respected vet today who says to remove it (and a soft lump in his neck) would be the best way forward. Has anyone had any experience of this? I am really not looking forward to putting him thru this.

What has the vet said it is exactly?
Steve just had a growth removed from his girl, and another friend just had a tumor removed also. Moo has had a benign tumor. Don't panic but what needs to be done needs to be done Xx

Kaos had also had a non cancerous tumour removed. If he needs it fine just do it luv...kaos was put under etc for it to be done and it didn't affect him at all he honestly wasn't bothered at all. The hardest part is keeping them still (ish) lol

Thank you for all your replies, the vet said it is probably mailignant, but removing it may solve the problem. It is not soft, it is a very hard lump. Know it has to be done but still worries me.

My late staff had non cancerours lumps removed from her chest once and she was fine after surgery and the vet told me they are very common in the breed of dog....good luck.

Thank you for that, were they really hard? Rafferty also has a big soft one in his neck area which the vet says he is not concerned about but will remove it anyway. I know they are prone to lumps and cancers, Rafferty is my second staff. Its nice when people like you share a good story

Yes they were hard but not big and she had about 4 or 6 I think but this was a few years back so I can't really remember if they moved under the skin, he's in the best hands with the vets.
