Re: Dog Farts
Well, I'd like to say that because Dempsey is fed raw, he never stinks.
Only I'd be lying! I'm sitting at work right now with him lying under my desk letting one off after another!
Dempsey stinks & he doesn't even get left overs!

Re: Dog Farts
Mine used to stink when they were on dried food and i mean really stink! Whenever they had anythink with grain in it, especially Skibadee. I played around for ages and after going exclusively raw have not had any smelly bums really. I do find if Skibadee eats a lot of offal she gets a bit stinky but its very rare whereas before it used to be constant!
Might be worth looking at his diet? They say in all mammals that excessive wind can be due to some sort of food intolerence could ring true here. What does he eat again? Might be worth trying a different kind of protein (ie. swapping chicken for turkey or beef for lamb).

Re: Dog Farts
I was always told Staffords were renowned for their gassy stomachs. Molly is all raw food and she has awful gas and it really stinks.
What you said about the intolerance is more than likely correct, people with lactose intolerance sometimes end up with a lot of gas.

He's just moved onto Barking Heads. He stopped eating his Pero last week and i tried everything to get hiim to eat!! He's had a charcoal biscuit today. He doesnt do it all the time, just once in a while! But i too thought staffords had notoriously bad bums!

Chicken is often a culprit for intolerance, and yet it's always recommended by vets as an invalid food.

Re: Dog Farts
Barking heads is a good food, one of the better ones. Which one is he on? The 'Bad Hair Day' is lamb and looks like its nutritional stats r good. Expensive though! Phew I could never afford to feed all my 3 on that. A bag would be gone in 2 - 3 days

Re: Dog Farts
It is expensive, but if he likes it and it's good for him I'm happy! He's on the Puppy Days at the min which does contain chicken. He's having a charcoal bone thing at lunchtimes now too!
Also, he is the only pet in a child free house. We dont really have any other expenses other than our own cars! We are lucky! But even if he liked the cheapo stuff, he'd be on that. We tried him on Wagg puppy and he had the runs!!

Re: Dog Farts
Barking heads is very good, I picked up some samples for our 18year old JRT and she wolfed them down! Just when hes nearly a year maybe try him on the 'bad hair day' one. But if you can put up with his smelly bum then the puppy days one at the mo stick with it, its a great food and will set him up well for life nutritionally.

Re: Dog Farts
We would be changing him onto a more suitable food as he grows up!I think the 'bad hair day' would do him a treat. His coat is a little dull (the vet said last night!) so hes got some oils i have to spray onto his food. Plus he gets sardines 3 times a week but only just started that so will have to wait and see the results!
I had a look at your website too Nosipho the other day. Love your girls! They are stunning. **whisper.....do you have any litters planned??****

Skibadee and Tal say thanks for the compliments! Website desperately needs updating though. Think I need to do a little photoshoot, time to get the white sheets and the treats out! We will have a litter later this year, probably be october/november sort of time. dad is going to be either 'Maxsta Hot Shot' or 'Valglo Singing The Blues'. If your interested let me know and I'll put you on the waiting list.

Re: Dog Farts
Yep.....Bugsy smelt like something had crawled up his ar5e and died! The funny thing was he would do it, look at you, then get up and go to the other side of the room leaving you sitting in this green fog! He would do it in his sleep sometimes and wake himself up. Normally they were silent but sometimes you would hear a little 'pphhhuutt' noise and know to take cover!
Our defence was to pull our tshirt, jumper whatever...over our nose!

Logan was stinking last night again!! Really bad and it lingered for ages!!! But his morning his little 'nuggets' didnt smell of anything!
Hes being soooo fussy now too and wont eat his Barking Heads. Even if i mix a little sardine/salmon with it. Which he usually loves! Think raw is the way to go now with him.
Looking forward to a (near) smell free puppy bum!
