dry food recomendations - Food Empty Food

We are going to PAH tonight to change skys food, for many reasons, mainly though because she s bored, wont touch it etc. She is currently on wainwrights wet and dry. She is 1 in march so keeping her on puppy food until then. Any idea on what food to change to. money is a bit of an issue atm too so dont want to spend more than we do now. Is just dry ok? or do you prefer wet and dry? or wet in the morning and dry at night? We dont want to feed raw but something thats just good quality and cheapish. any advice?

If Sky is anything like Logan you will have these "I'm not eating" phases quite a lot! I'm sorta weary about cheaper brands. Wainwrights is said to be quite good. A lot of people on here seem to rate it quite well.

Do you just feed the dry food on it's own? If so try putting a tablespoon of olive oil in with the dry kibble, Logan loves the stuff and it's good for them. I mix the dry food with mince from my butchers, he makes it up from liver/heart/beef etc and it's great stuff. I boil it because even though I understand raw is very healthy it just puts me off (maybe someday). A bag of "dog mince" from the butcher is 40p here so it's a very inexpensive way to feed good quality fresh meat.

We feed our 2 on wainwrights complete they never turn their noses up at it. We mix vegetables and fish in with it for a change Smile

Zeus has been fed on dry ever since we've had him (almost a year) and he'll eat it. However, we do mix it up sometimes so it keeps him guessing, we add the following to his dry food:

1) Salmon oil
2) Raw egg (with mashed up shell)
3) Doggy gravy/sometimes real gravy
4) Wainwrights wet tray which we mash up and put in his food
5) Cooked chicken breast

I don't mix in raw meat with dry kibble as they have different digestion rates and could cause a tummy upset.

Same as Wendy and Mark, we've had Loki on Wainwright's since the day we got him and he's never stopped eating it or gotten bored of it, but to mix it up a little, I do put some scraps in now and again, or some mackerel/sardines. That said, if Sky is picky, chances are she'll turn her nose up every time she has just normal food because she'll be used to the extras Laughing

Have a look online, I use www.chemistdirect.co.uk there great wider choice and cheaper. Personally I stick her on adults and move on as you mean to go as its not good to be constantly changing.

Completely dry is fine, but I do think they get bored. Moo even got bored when I mixed sardines and eggs in. She'll only eat it with some really basic cheap wet food mixed in! (only the smallest bit!) and even then she doesn't always finish, it gets thrown away, and she gets the same the next day, I just think they are fussy at times Xx

If you do decide to change the food please do so gradually to avoid an upset tummy. We add a little cooked cooled chicken or anchovies to Rocky dry kibble.
