Those staples (and there ARE a lot by golly) are going to nip a bit when they come out.
He will have to be brave lad, but just remind him - it's not as bad as childbirth!

Didn't count but there are a lot. Stiff upper lip Steve's Dad! Lie back and think of England - it'll feel better when they're out.

Mrs had staples when she had the ops on her spine. She said there less painful taking out than stitches. Most shouldn't be tight to the skin now and they take them out really quick. One's that looked painful was the ones at each end as they are normally still pretty tight.
Hope the pain starts to die down soon. Things like this do take allot of time before the person starts to real the benifits.

Sometimes though not being able to feel any pain can cause more damage. At least your dag wil only walk fully on it for walks etc once he feels its right. Know from playing footy days getting painkillers etc and playing 90 mins just makes it even worse once they have wore off

Yes, baby steps for Steve's Dad at the moment. Things are still healing and he is bound have stiffened up over the past couple of weeks. His physio will be the best guide as to how he should progress from here.

Oh dear. Hopefully, your dad's physio isn't so used to dealing with fit young footballers' injuries of this type that he is ignoring that your dad can only have limited pain control. And, being of more mature years, that this kind of injury will take longer to get over. Physios can be very fierce sometimes!
If I was you dad (and I think we're probably about the same age), then I would try to do the exercises very gently at first, building up the effort and duration gradually.
Good luck Steve's Dad ><
