My dog is wierd
Hi so my dog is a bit weird in that she's afraid of phones and cameras that click or flash i have taken some good photos of her over the years but it needs to be when she doesn't expect it or she will just run up to me with the tail between the legs and the ears back.
I was wondering if anyone else has suffered this any advice on what could help?
Thanks

Re: My dog is wierd
Dogs obviously don't know what flashes or cameras are (although im pretty convinced lexi knows a camera means pose!!!) so a big flash is usually an attention seeking thing for them, so they come to you to see why you have asked for their attention.
Try one that is silent or non flashing to start, to get her used to the pose you will have on for taking a pic. Then the best way to get a good photo is to have a 2nd person holding food or a toy so her attention is on them and then you take the pics.

I can't take a decent photo of Kuchar either. He looks great, I click the button. Two seconds later the flash goes and he runs up to me "what was THAT mum?" and that's when the photo gets taken!

Ye we do that but even when i'm holding my phone texting she's always looking up making sure there's no click going off and if i'm texting too long she'll either come over or leave the room.
My sister has a professional camera and all she has to do is lift it up and the dog runs away.

Could be she's just shy. They all seem to have certain objects they are scared of or nervous around. Suki used to hate the vaccum. We left it out so she could get used to it. Than we brought it into the same room and gave her a treat when she didn't bark. Than we would turn it on for brief periods and built up from there. Might work with the camera as well

Thanks for the advice but we tried that before but she will not come into the room if a camera is there and even things like nail clippers that the girls use freaks her out . Funny enough she never bothered much with the hoover when we had carpets.
This photo took ages to take but she loves apples.

Re: My dog is wierd
6 weeks is too young to leave mum/litter-mates, so a lot of dogs taken at that age don't really get their independent confidence up if you know what i mean.
How about try having somoen in the garden "training her with treats" and you can either put the camera out the window or take some photos through the window
I love "professional" looking photos, but honestly it is the intimate personal ones that really make your dogs personality shine through. And your girl is beautiful no matter how good or bad she is at modeling

Ledger hates having his picture taken, if he spots me lift the phone and point it at him he barks i have tested the theory of playing a game and pointing it at him and then he isn't fussed at all not quite sure how he knows the difference!

Loki loves the camera because I got him used to it ever since the first day we got him. Get some really delicious treats and work from there. Don't have the flash on at first. In fact, play with her or do some training with her or give her some treats while the phone makes the click/flash (not necessarily taking pics of her, just getting her used to the noise) and go slowly from there.
