Weaning off the puppy food
I am trying to wean Bacon off Puppy food. He is 9.5 months old right now. I attempted to change over from "Taste of the Wild Puppy Formula" to the adult version. I slowly introduced the adult over a two week period, but he didn't take nicely to it. He had extreme gas and soft runny stools.
I went back to the puppy formula and he's back to normal. My question is how long can he go on the puppy food? Also, should I attempt to move to a different brand's regular formula? Not sure if you all have Taste of the Wild overseas, but it is a pretty good quality grain free food...

Re: Weaning off the puppy food
Most companies will say up to a year for the puppy food. When you say you introduced the new fod gradually were you mixing the two together? Start with 90% of the old and 10% of the new and reduce the old by 5-10% every day or two. He may still have gas or runny stools but his system should adjust and adapt until the new food is normal.

Thanks Jstaff. I started with a 70/30 ratio. I started the 10% mix in and will go slow to see how he reacts.

I would have thought 9.5 months was too early to change to adult food? Zeus is 11 months old and still on puppy food...

Re: Weaning off the puppy food
My pup was put onto adult kibble at 8 weeks and then I decided to feed raw! She's been raw fed since about 10 weeks or so.
I'd say you don't need to bother with puppy kibble!
