Molly and Watson's interview on the farm!
My partner and I have recently signed up to rent some land to start up a small holding! Its so exciting.
Dogs are allowed so long as they are are well behaved off the lead and can be trusted around the animals (all of which are fenced in). A working police dog (german shep) was recently being exercised around the land and managed to leap into the pig area. It went crazy and bit off the pigs tail.... policeman who couldn't call his dog back was mortified... so there was a little worry as to how ours would be since even a well behaved police dog was very uncontrolable!
Well the interview went really well they were fantastic. Moll was trying to play with the landowners dog, very cute, and Watson was more interested in swimming in the pond. Moll was very scared of the huge pigs but I ignored her and us humans carried on talking. She got used to them within a matter of minutes and was trying to play/meet and greet everybody she met.
Recall was direct but her pace was very very very slow lol a casual walk when i called her back; there were huge distractions (geese, ducks, chickens, pigs.....etc!) so to be honest although slow I was rather impressed that she did come back when called.
She and Watson are now alright to come up with me to the land and they absolutely loved it. I now have two sleeping hounds curled up in one basket looing very cute.
Proud mama I was

Re: Molly and Watson's interview on the farm!
We've rented just over an acre of land from a farmer nearby (live in a village outside of Chester). Planning to keep pigs, ducks, chickens and geese on the land and maybe grow some veg
Not a commercial enterprise as such but if we could sell some produce to friends etc to cover costs that would be fab. Organic freerange meat and eggs is the plan! There will be 3 people like ourselves renting land, a community of small holders.
I can't wait and am soo happy that our dogs were very well behaved (slightly more lively than the farmers dog!) it means that walking dogs can be combined with feeding animals.
We've just reserved 5 piglets! Very cute.
