Attacking the post
Pixee for some reason has suddenly taken a dislike to anything coming through the letter box, more so the morning post! and is now attacking it before it has ever got half way through the letter box, which is not acceptable! Has anybody expereniced this and what steps did you take to put a stop to it. We have verbally told her off, and will work for a few days, then its back to attacking.

Persistence. Make sure you're near the door when the post is due so that you can catch her in the act.
When we had Bandit we bought a sort of cage that fitted over the letter box inside so that the post never dropped on to the floor & he couldn't get it!
Now we have an outside box.

Re: Attacking the post
lol.. no Taz collects the mail for me - try asking her to leave the mail when she has and reward with a high valued treat - repeat - calm and repetitive, patient consistency - you then have your very own indoor postie

Re: Attacking the post
We have a cage on our letterbox to collect all the post so it doesn't hit the floor. Rocky once got hold of one of hubby cheques and proceeded to shred it

Re: Attacking the post
I had the same thing with Harry so put a cage up inside but he could pull envelopes through it. Now I have an outside box and when the post lady comes he brings me the door mat to tell me I need to go to the door to bring the post in.

Mainly because, even if you train your dog to bring the post to you (and many shredded letters in the mean time) it'll be covered in slime!

Maybe, but some of the mail I get can't be slobbered over.

Persistent training should work. In the mean time, I agree about the letterbox cage!
Different dogs, Taz. Not all dogs have the same motivation for training, just as not all humans do.

Re: Attacking the post
We tried to teach Loki to fetch our letters today (using an already-opened, useless one). He very kindly decided to take the letter out of the envelope for us. He then decided that the letter was of no importance and ripped it to shreds . Use some old, non-important letters and teach her to leave them. Failing that, get the cage thing that collects your post
