Sould I limit time with chews?
Hi all, just wondering if chew toy time should be limited? Since having her bully stick and nylabone, she has just been so mellowed out and well behaved. She just sits bye our feet and nibbles away. Should we allow her to chew on them to her hearts content or limit the time? I let her take the bully stick with her to her crate and she seemed to hit the sack faster last night and not be as active in there.

We never limited chewing time unless the toy had a choking hazard associated with it and required supervision.

IMO, if she wants to chew let her chew. Very good for her teeth.

Agree with the above, I let Zeus chew his Stagbar as much as he wants.
It keeps him busy, is good for his teeth and most of the time, after hes done chewing, he falls asleep!

Loki doesn't chew all that much, just when he's bored but we can't play with him, or when he's settling down at night before sleeping. But I don't think there's a problem with letting them chew too much. Only problem would be if it was a food item I guess, or if it's something you need to supervise her for.

Rocky likes a snooze after chewing his stag bar too, I think he finds it relaxing.

awsome guys, ill give her back her bully stick on my lunch break. the kong is a quick fix until its empty, so she looses interest in it. the bully stick is a god send, and we have also noticed less nippyness.

I'm lead to believe chewing releases endorphins which relax dogs.
