Stones Empty Stones

Post by lovemystaffies Tue Jan 01 2013, 17:00

Message to all sbt owners - do NOT let your dog play with stones. Murphy has done this for years with no problems but had to have op over Christmas to remove five huge stones from stomach and intestines. Is now very very poorly has been in vets since 29th. Never thought he would swallow them and still don't understand why he did. Vet says they have only been in there a week or so. Happy new year everyone.

Poor thing. Hope he recovers well.

My Lizzy is always going for stones, has such an obsession over them that even before I owned her she had worn alot of her molars down to stumps. Luckily the stones she goes for are usually bigger than she could possibly swallow, still, your unfortunate story is an incentive to try and break her of the habit again.

Sending hugs to Murphy hope he is feeling better very soon. >Big Grin< >Big Grin< >Big Grin<

rocky used to bring in stones from outside in a way to seek attention, he doesn't do it some much now, thankfully.

They're so silly sometimes, why swallow something that has no taste? Rolling Eyes. Hope he feels better soon!

Hope Murphy gets better soon.

It's strange the last few weeks Marco has been picking up bricks and stones and running around with them, I will need to be extra vigilant in future.

Thanks everyone for your support; he is picking up now and we hope to collect him from vets this evening. Average size of these stones was 3 to 2.5 cm. unbelievable that he could swallow them. Thank goodness for insurance !
