Troublesome teething
Well after the Boxing Day diarrhoea saga Tilly is poorly again with, what I hope are, teething symptoms - runny poop, foamy sick and the inability to chew anything. She looks so sad and keeps whimpering then disappearing under the table to be sick.
Did any of yours really struggle with teething?
We aw the vet for a health check on Friday and they commented on how her big teeth were really pushing through. Once again it breaks my heart seeing her be poorly :-(

Re: Troublesome teething
I never saw the symptoms you are talking about with teething sorry. Steff couldn't eat anything hard or chew but she lost so many teeth all at once it was because she was gummy Try some scrambled egg it is easy to eat and also wont upset her tummy too much. Hope she feels better soon ><

Re: Troublesome teething
Yes actually Dave gave me a great tip when Steff was teething ICECUBES!! They worked wonders, can't believe I forgot about them

Re: Troublesome teething
She normally loves ice cubes and skids them across the kitchen floor but turned her nose up at one this morning. She looks so sad. I'm worrying as she's not lapping water either, I'm guessing her mouth is too painful.

Re: Troublesome teething
Keep an eye on her if she is refusing water a trip to the vets may be the best thing >< Poor baby

Re: Troublesome teething
Go to the vets she should not refuse water , Duke has had no problems with teething , runny poop and vomit suggest a stomach upset and going without water will bring about dehydration , all the best .

adding picture of teething stick
Obi had a dodgy tummy when he was teething. I spoke to the nurse at the vets and she said that normally they don't suffer like children do with teething but he wasn't ill in any other way.
I used baby bonjela on Obi's gums when he was teething you need to get the baby one as it doesn't contain paracetamol. I also found a Kong teething toy placed in the freezer overnight helped as it gave him something to chew on.
I'd definately have a chat with the vet though if she isn't drinking as that doesn't sound normal. Maybe keep her nil by mouth for the day and give her icecubes so at least she is getting some fluid in her.
Hope she's ok. Get well soon Tilly xXx

Re: Troublesome teething
Try some ice cubes to soothe the gums or frozen vegetables to eat should do the trick

Re: Troublesome teething
a good rope toy to nag on helps to loosen them up no end, try a cotton rope rather than nylon as it grips the teath better and you can pop it in the freezer for half hour to chill it down.

Re: Troublesome teething
If she isn't drinking, or even crunching ice cubes, then straight to the vet. That's very wrong - even sore gums don't stop a pup from drinking.

Re: Troublesome teething
Is mine the only pup who had no problem teething???
Apart from a couple of days when he didn't have enough molars to crunch dog biscuits.
Managed to salvage one tooth for puppy memories.

Keep telling you Bacchus is perfection
The few days with only 3 teeth was Steffs biggest problem, although it gave me a few giggles watching her trying to eat

Bacchus came as close as a staffie comes to giving up on a couple of things.

Re: Troublesome teething
Lexi didn't have bother either. But this doesn't sound teethy to me, pups shouldn't foam at the mouth.

Re: Troublesome teething
Tilly needs the vet QUICKLY if she is not drinking - dehydration is a real possibility. You are off line at the moment so I hope that is where you are.
Please let us know how you get on.
