I think they're a good idea. People may still slow down (nothing wrong in that), but maybe they'll be more inclined to keep their eyes on the road as there'll be less to see?

yup that is exactly what they will do , soon as people see an accident or anything stopped on their side or the other side they want to slow down to snail pace and have a look and talk about it, now they will just be pondering whats behind the screens

I've been driving professionally for about 19 years now with my job and reckon maybe 5 or 6 times tops I have been involved in an incident where I am stuck on my side of the road due to a closure , accident or something that has genuinely stopped or restricted the traffic. All the other times have been down to rubberneckers and they should all be shot

Yes, Dave, my oh will agree with that. He's been driving artics & busses since 1975 so he's seen his fair share of rubbernecks - ghouls.

I think they're a good idea in general.

Personally I have always slowed down when driving by an accident because it just seems like manners not to zoom by at 70mph. Besides which, the lanes are of necessity narrowed, so everyone HAS to slow down to get by. And I would defy anyone not to have a quick glance. that doesn't mean I crawl by with eyes on stalks and swiveling head though - I suppose some people might so when we all become accustomed to the screens then it will probably help.

They have some flaps on them screens. I don't think playing catch phase is going to help
