I think I know what you mean, a kind of cross between a lion roaring and Charlie from the BBC information programs "Charlie Says, never talk to strangers etc."

Thats exactly what it is, a cross between growling and 'charlie says'...is it just an attention seeking noise, as much as attnetion seeking by jumping on you? x

I call it yowling and for us it's only Tommy that does it and I would say for me it was definitely attention seeking

Loki makes all the sounds in the animal kingdom Rolling Eyes his latest addition to his wide array of sounds is mooing. It's always attention-seeking when he does it Laughing

I wonder, has anyone ever heard their Staff make an unusual chirping sound, sort of like a cross between a dolphin and a bird of some kind?

It's definitely a 'sad' noise, she often makes it if she's left outside in the garden for longer than she'd like, if she feels (I assume) like she's been forgotten about.

Ah, Edie makes that noise. it's her quiet 'oh.... I want to go in the living room. Have you forgotten me?"

she also whinnies like a horse which is her louder 'can you hear me? I WANT to go in the living room!'

followed by screaming 'Let me in the bl**dy living room!!!!!!!!'

When she wants to incite another dog to play she bounces around the dog going A WAA WAA WAA, a sort of donald duck noise...

very funny.

And if we move the other dog up out of her way onto our lap she will make all sorts of funny noises, just like a whole conversation... 'come down and play with me now pleeeaase, now, now, Ohhhhh! '

Yes, it's one of the many cries/whines/whimpers that Loki makes. I always half-laugh and half pity him Laughing

Mine also does one like an ambulance just before he launches in a kissing binge. I think they all mean different things as I can at least spot the one that's for going outside to pee and the attention-seeking ones

I love most of the sounds Taz makes, especially the sexy/husky grunt, the only thing I don't like is her snuffling/snaffling grunty piggy noise, (like she makes when she's having a good old clean of her lady parts)....

its funniest when she makes a noise and we copy her - she really doesnt like that, she gets all offended and starts jumping on us and biting us (not that we condone this sort of behaviour??) x
