Ghosts - Page 2 Empty Ghosts

First topic message reminder :

Have you ever seen one?

I've seen three.

1st in a ship yard with my friend; hate to be cliché but he looked like the captain of the titanic and we were at Harland & Wolff docks in Belfast.

2nd was two on the side of my road. its a very dark country road and my friend and i were walking to my house at like 4 am (dirty stop outs) and we were chatting and laughing then all of a sudden both started running full pelt and didnt stop until we got home then both said at same time "did you see them?"

3rd..on loo... hes called "the black man" seen him a few times. He was friends with my gran. She used to tell me about him all the time, so did my aunty. There a big mansion in my town and my family worked in it and gran said that he was always there and he liked our family.

confused

Even though these are all VERY vivid memories that the other person witnessed and could describe 100% the same as me i still dunno if i believe anymore lol.

So have you ever had any ghosts?

Very interesting Dave, and similar to lots of events I've heard about before.

Quite what is happening can't be shown by either side: those who believe it's a comforting death process elicited by the dying brain, and those who believe there is some transition across some hitherto invisible or unseen barrier.

There is a lot of research being done on this at the moment and the "it's just the brain dying" crew are finding they're having to narrow and narrow down their criterion for what triggers such a phenomenon as each set of conditions they claim lead to such events is transcended by a newer experience and revised model.

In essence, I'd bet heavily on there being something on the other side, but to do so leads to calls to prove it. And, of course, I can't. No more than anyone who believes that death on earth is a terminal event for all eternity can either.

Keith, i honestly think it had a lot to do with so many hours of very little interaction for the lady, then suddenly a loved one is there, i think she made the conection that we thought she was ready to go, mustered all her strength to say goodbye and the brain completed the fantasy. Does that sound heartless on my part?

Dave742, your experience reminds me of a story I heard about a lady in WW2.

Her brother Peter was fighting in France and the lady was very ill and knew she was going to die. As she drew her last breaths she (inexplicably at the time) said "You too Peter?".

The next day a telegram arrived - Peter had been killed in action.

The theory was that he was welcoming her to "the other side" and she saw him as she died.

It's a comforting theory.

I've seen a nun that wasn't there, I've heard voices where there were no people & I've felt oppressive/threatening atmospheres in places with a violent history.

I have my own views about what they were, but others will obviously have different ideas! Big Grin
