Ghosts Empty Ghosts

Post by Guest Fri Dec 21 2012, 23:01

Have you ever seen one?

I've seen three.

1st in a ship yard with my friend; hate to be cliché but he looked like the captain of the titanic and we were at Harland & Wolff docks in Belfast.

2nd was two on the side of my road. its a very dark country road and my friend and i were walking to my house at like 4 am (dirty stop outs) and we were chatting and laughing then all of a sudden both started running full pelt and didnt stop until we got home then both said at same time "did you see them?"

3rd..on loo... hes called "the black man" seen him a few times. He was friends with my gran. She used to tell me about him all the time, so did my aunty. There a big mansion in my town and my family worked in it and gran said that he was always there and he liked our family.

confused

Even though these are all VERY vivid memories that the other person witnessed and could describe 100% the same as me i still dunno if i believe anymore lol.

So have you ever had any ghosts?

Yeah me and my partner saw a ghost in our house when we where on a cam site showing our rottie and the cam was looking over Millie when my partener came through to the bedroom and said did you see that and by the time he came and asked me i saw a ghostly hand go over the cam if it wasnt for the delay on the cam site i would have missed it and thought my partner was seeing things but it was rather spooky.

Well, Hayley, I can't say I've seen a ghost but there is one thing I've never forgotten:-

One night I was woken up by a very rapid "tapping" noise - it seemed to come from a built-in cupboard in our bedroom. It even woke my husband of the time up, and he never woke for anything. I switched the bedside light on and the tapping immediately faltered, and died away to silence.

The next day I looked in the cupboard and there was a very big (empty) vodka bottle, which hubby was intending to use as a piggy bank for coins, and the cap was loose and did make a tapping noise when agitated by hand, although the noise I heard was much louder and faster than I could acheive. I screwed the the cap down tight and put the bottle in the utility room.

Next day, I found the bottle smashed.

And here's the thing - next door to us (adjoining town houses) there had lived an alcholic who had not long before comitted suicide by jumping in front of a train.

This was 30-odd years ago.

Yes, and it was demonstrably real because it interacted with the material world and left visible traces.

Can't say it frightened me. Quite the opposite really.

Would love to have a chat with a ghost.

I did a thread on it a while back.

In a nutshell - a sealed clock fell off a wall, and the minute hand was outside the sealed case. No glass was broken and the clock couldn't be opened without destroying a fabric seal which surrounded its perimeter. It was fully sealed. Yet the minute hand which had been on the inside was outside.

Other things in the house flew into the air in front of several of us - spontaneously and perpendicularly to the ground - total vertical take-off.

We had a collie-cross at the time and he used to sense it and go mad trying to get out of the house just before things happened.

People have said there must be a rational explanation for it. There is - it was paranormal.

Thanks Keith

Well, that is inexplicable - more inexplicable than my experience.

I've got to be honest, I would be ABSOLUTELY TERRIFIED if I saw things flying around into the air in front of me. The LAST thing I would want to do would be to "chat".

Havent seen anythin myself but have had a few wierd experiances but nothing i could say, yed that was paranormal. I think it would be ignorant to think we as humans know everythings i have an open mind on it all. In fact im even more open to the unkown after some of the weird stuff that goes on in quantum physics with partical teleportation and atoms being in two places at the same time already demonstrated in labs... Problem is how you measure the location of particles, what metric they're defined on, etc.
Have a google for Alain Aspect if you're into this, together with probability wave functions.

Very true Nathan, our brain can only deal with a small percentage of what it is capable of. Example - try to understand infinity, whether in time or space - it's not possible and our brain shuts off.

Why have we this excess unused brain matter? I'm sure I don't know and quite honestly I don't WANT to know; it's scary.

Yeah ill have a look at that keith as its something that fasinates me. I know never to take anything as "fact" until its fully proven. And yes quantum physics is 99% theory but fasinating none the less. If you went back 150 years (your great grand parents) and told them one day you could fly faster than the spead of sound by burning a liquid youd have been locked up as a looney lol

There's a book called "What is Quantum Mechanics" by the Transnational College of Lex (in Japan) which explains, with all the maths, the core underpinnings of quantum theory and gives a great running commentary on the order of discovery of results as well.

The key thing is - it's written in such a way that anyone with only rudimentary maths can access it quite freely.

Written like it's for 16-year-olds but with rigour to the maths, which is accompanied by explanations in English of what's going on).

Highly recommended as a first semi-rigorous read on the subject - I read it before enrolling on quantum mechanics as a third year undergrad option even though it's full of cartoons and quips, lol.

Way way way too heavy for me - I can't understand a word you are saying now Keith or Nathan (thick? Moi? undoubtedbly - I failed at 0% on quantum physics).

"Ghosts are real. It's what they are that should be under discussion."

It's one theory under consideration by physicists.
But until the string theory debacle is sorted out, we can't even begin to seriously explore the notion of alternative universes - basically we don't know what's making up this one yet.

Just been on Amazon and ordered about a dozen texts on the subject - am equally wasted on Jim Beam right now.

Gotta love Amazon though - 500 page post-graduate texts going secondhand for 1p plus postage because no-one wants them. thumbs up

Well yes there are lots of you... The jim beam portal is a strong one that disrupts quantum mechanics and splits your atoms into a 7th dimension over the cosmos and reassembling them into the sunday morning "oh god im never drinking again" call god on the great white telephone theory. I suggest walk the dog cure and spend the rest if day blameing farts on them.

But until the string theory debacle is sorted out, we can't even begin to seriously explore the notion of alternative universes - basically we don't know what's making up this one yet.

Just been on Amazon and ordered about a dozen texts on the subject - am equally wasted on Jim Beam right now.

Gotta love Amazon though - 500 page post-graduate texts going secondhand for 1p plus postage because no-one wants them. thumbs up

String theory...love it but may have to leave it here as bed calls.

Its the ink...wipe once and you have quantum physics written all over your bottom leading it to be in two places at same time but you see it in 4th spactial dimention at twice speed of light so that second wipe gonna have to be a quick one....id stick to andrex...excuse the pun Big Grin

Keith wrote:There's a book called "What is Quantum Mechanics" by the Transnational College of Lex (in Japan) which explains, with all the maths, the core underpinnings of quantum theory and gives a great running commentary on the order of discovery of results as well.

Whaaattt?

Wot I sed, some things are beyond the capability of our understanding, and this CERTAINLY exceeds mine!

Complex analysis - basically a Euclidian plane with an imaginary vertical axis. :-$

I really, really, really don't understand a word of that; and I don't consider myself thick. I just can't get my brain around it! Big Grin

A manifestation of energy derived from the living, IMO.

Hmmmm, one explanation.

Lynda wrote:Way way way too heavy for me - I can't understand a word you are saying now Keith or Nathan (thick? Moi? undoubtedbly - I failed at 0% on quantum physics).

I would love to hear more from you on this Caryll, and you too Janey of course, if you both care to.

I think there are three possibilities for ghosts. (Maybe more, but these are what I think they are).

1. The brain's weird & wonderful imaginings - you get over tired or stressed & your mind plays tricks on you
2. An 'echo' of things gone by - a sort of magnetic 'memory' that sometimes gets attracted to certain people causing them to see or hear things that are not necessarily physically there
3. A 'spirit' or 'soul' left behind after the death of the body. A soul that has not yet left this wordly plane and gone on to the next.

My own idea is that it can be any of the above. The things I have seen and heard tend, I think, to fall within the last two.

Whatever they are, though, I don't think that they can physically harm us. Psychologically, however, is a different matter.

Lol. Laughing

Not sure what dimension I've just been in but I just went to Amazon to get a couple of maths books and ended up buying a double-lined German army issue parka, German army issue goretex trousers, German army issue winter hat, balaclava, army mitts and army neck scrim all in full camo, and a pair of German army issue para boots. Laughing

Will look like a ghost out of WWII when walking the dogs at the rescue in the woods next week.

We had nursed a lady for 6 weeks before she died, she hadn't spoken, moved and was totally bed ridden. Anyway one day she got the death rattle, so we called her family in, after an hour or so she suddenly rolled and hugged her daughter and said " I have to go now your dads here to get me, i love you" lay back and died, is that paranormal or the mind working over?
