Guard dog
Bacchus gave his first quiet " woof " the other night when he heard some strange noises outside because of the high winds. Then last night when the OH came to the door late after her works night out, we got the " woof " again before he realised it was mum.
What a hero

Re: Guard dog

Re: Guard dog
Miley is up on the chair barking at the window whenever she hears a pin drop outside a definite burglar deterrent

Re: Guard dog
I dont think Rocky would let anyone enter his home who he didn't want in here. He would certainly let us know if anyone was around who shouldn't be.

Re: Guard dog
Well done Bacchus, protecting the house . Loki isn't bothered by strange noises, but certain things he's barked at, and outside too.

Re: Guard dog
If my daughter comes home late Bella will go tearing up the hall growling and barking but I'm pretty sure she is all talk and would lick anyone who came in

Re: Guard dog
Staffs are not natural guard dogs as we know. My Dobes were of course, and would bark at EVERYTHING which could be very wearing.
However, Kuch WILL bark at an unusual sound - very discriminating of him! I find it very reassuring in that he doesn't go berserk over the slightest sound but just something out of the ordinary. Fortunately these out of the ordinary sounds have not so far been a concern (yes, I check) but what a clever boy.

Re: Guard dog
Sausage shot off the bed and downstairs to the window last night at about 3am.
I've not heard her before - she's essentially silent - but the growls and barks were enough to wake the dead.
No-one or nothing about when I went downstairs behind her, so no idea what spooked her.
When I went back upstairs, she'd nicked the pillows. Clever.

Same here, it's weird how they learn to tell what's a normal sound and what's a potential threat.
