I cannot believe this is still going on in the 21st century.

I cannot understand why the judge asked the jury to find them not guilty

They also faced a second charge of conspiracy to hold another person in servitude, but the trial judge ordered the jury to find the defendants not guilty.

is this the same case where they went around picking up drunks off the street or is it another different case?

I think they did do this too, they picked up drunks and homeless people, it just beggars belief.
