He won't let me relax!!!!!!
First I wanna say sorry for not being here often lately, bit of family problems.
Debo is really wierd with me. When I'm busy doing staff,he's fine,he will fallow me ,watch me etc. As soon as I want to sit down on sofa he will come up ,jumps on me. I've tried everything. Said no,put him in different room, put him in the cage....Since this started his wearing his collar around the house,so if he plays around I can grab his collar and remove him. At the moment ( not always) the only thing that work is to get him off the sofa, make him to lay down, with my hand placed on his neck ( not pressing just keeping there) ,he slowly calms down. It drives me crazy,it looks like he doesn't want me to relax. It alwasy happen when my OH is not around. And I don't let him play around,I'm firm with him. And it happens in the evening, when I'm back from work. I'm back ,we're going for a walk, back ,then supper. Then I do my things, then play with him. And after that want to sit down and boom. Debo starts his game.

Re: He won't let me relax!!!!!!
OMG I identify with this completely. Same with Kuchar in all respects, except that now i am retired i am nearly always around. He gets 2 or 3 walks a day, and playing with in between times.
Oh he's happy enough when I am doing housework, but in the evening, after giving him a vigorous walk and a lovely dinner and just when I want to relax like a normal human being, he starts pestering - barking, pawing etc etc and it's like he's like a human male - "why aren't you working?" It only happens when I sit down (and I don't sit down during the day - chance would be a fine thing).
I give him stuffed Kongs, stuffed bones, rawhide knots stuffed with cooked liver - eventually (around this time, like now) he collapses in a heap around my son (whose dog he supposedly is).
Good luck Jola (Debo's mum) - let's hope they grow out of it.

They just like human companionship.
As he gets older he'll calm down a bit & gain more self confidence. As he gains self confidence he'll be more happy to be quiet & on his own, although he'll still be likely to follow you if you leave the room!

Just wants attention as you've been gone, mummy home = fuss. You could try taking him for a spin, just you and him when you get home Xx

My OH said, that when he comes back home first ( very rare) Debo doesn't greet him same way as he greet me.
Will try that Janey.

Re: He won't let me relax!!!!!!
I'm experiencing the same thing tonight because Bacchus didn't get his loooong walk tonight. As I had to go in to town after work he only had a 20 min walk first thing, then a 40 min walk about 10am and a 15 min walk tonight. He would normally have an early evening walk of about 40 mins on top of all this and we have a snooze on the sofa from 8.30 onwards.
A tired staffy is a happy staffy is a well behaved staffy.

I have the opposite problem, when I sit on the couch Steff is happy to just sit with me but this last week trying to pack the house up she is constantly under foot and tries to unpack as I'm packing I have soo many socks, undies, face cloths etc strewn all over my house and garden at the moment it looks like squatters live here

Re: He won't let me relax!!!!!!
Hi Jola, I have a simular problem with Kenny, but the other way around If im sat with Ken, or playing he's great, but as soon as i do anything like hoover, mop, polish, he's a right pain, if im doing dishes, he's up on his back legs in front of me trying to steal the dish cloth, he attacks the hoover and the mop, and if i sit to look on the pc, he has to have is ball, under my chair, then he'll get bored and try to jump on my lap. If i still ignore him, he starts pulling the sleave of my jumper. And when he's really seeking attension, he'll take his hard rubber ball, take it to the top of the stairs, drop it down, which is really noisey as theres no carpet, he'll keep doing it until i stop. > I'd love to offer advice, but i dont know what to do

He has 2 long walks a day and one short. Long one is in the evening then play. I would be tired after that. . People say just ignore ,he will stop. They never owned Staffy. When you ignore theme, they will find a way to get your attention.

No! He just wants your company & the reason he doesn't do it to your other half is because he doesn't want to! He prefers to interract with you!

I know, they're not easy dogs to ignore, are they?

Re: He won't let me relax!!!!!!
im waving my hand too!! cass is exactly the same. when i've been to work all day i sometimes want to chill out when i get home, (after i've walked and fed him obviously). he doesn';t give me 2 minutes, the only time i have when he isn't pestering me is 9pm, he's getting tired then and is starting to relax and sleep.
he also uses me as a climbing frame, this morning he positioned himself on my head as i lay watching tv. very very odd dogs are staffs but i wouldn't change him for the world.
i can agree with the "people say just ignore him" erm, i'll leave him with you for a few evenings and let me know how that goes yeah?
