Strange experience/indigestion?
Had a really strange experience with Harry this morning. Everything was normal, he had an early breakfast, later we went for our walk and he was fine and went to the toilet as usual. When we came back he had a couple of small pieces of my toast with butter on, as he does every day, then he became a bit stressed and started to panic and was obviously in some discomfort or pain. I comforted him and rubbed his belly and he started to bite me (not nastily) and I realised that he was trying to tell me not to stop doing it. Gave him a drink thinking he had got some toast stuck and he managed to drink ok. He calmed for a little and then started all over again and this time when i rubbed his chest and tummy he did some spectacular belching which seemed to help him. Can only assume that he had bad indigestion or heartburn either from scoffing too quickly or because I had given him bread! Gave him a rennie and he belched a few more times. Hes been quieter than usual today and I haven't fed or given him anything else since. He hasn't been sick or had the runs.
I know its not bloat as I have experienced that in a staffie many years ago, but think it must have been gas/indigestion. Any ideas what more I can do to help him please, any home remedy suggestions, or anyone experience this with their dog?
Going to keep a close eye on him and will be off to the vets if he gets it again, and think I might stop the toast from now on.

Yes I don't think the toast helped. Dogs get gas and stuff too so maybe split his meal into a smaller one so instead of one larger all have two small ones?

Don't give him toast - in fact don't give him anything wheat based as that's a known allergen for dogs. I'm not saying that was definitely the cause, but it could have been.
Also, give no food at all for at least an hour after exercise as that can cause digestive problems as well.
If it looks like he has a spot of indigestion you could always give him a small piece of ginger....

Thanks everyone. He is back to normal now and ate his evening meal with no problems.
Looks like he will have to share just my egg now and no 'soldiers' lol.
