Re: PLEASE HELP!
Omg heartbreaking.
I can see where she's coming from. When me and my hubby were discussing getting a dog I originally wanted a Boston terrier but hubby wanted a staffy.
I point blank said no Fecking way are we getting a staffy !
Anyway, it wasn't till I started researching the breed that my eyes were opened to the breed, not all the media negativity.
To be honest I was shocked at the bad rap staffys had gotten.
So anyway, we got our first staffy Diesel, fell in love and just under a year later got Tank. They are my life. We have 4 kids, all school age, youngest is 5.
They adore the dogs, they are all best buds, no matter what - u can depend on a staffy.
Sure the puppy months are pretty sucky but a little effort in training, consistency with boundaries and you will raise a well mannored dog who will be you kids best bud.
I hope your OH reconsiders, it's very easy to feel protective and basically want everything to be perfect , specially with a first born. Unruly pups can be a hinderance !
I hope you can compromise at least, if u put the effort into training him, making him a great family asset that can grow with your baby.

Re: PLEASE HELP!
Really sad to see this, my parents kept Staffordshire Bull Terriers with us kids from the age of 3 and they were brilliant family pets, one of the best breeds around for children in fact! And the majority of my friends growing up kept staffs too.. It does sound like her head is probably all over the place, but do you have any idea how many staffs are already in need of homes?!
I don't mean to sound rude, and of course really it is none of my business, but you have posted here asking for advice; were you not planning to have a baby a few months ago when you got Chaos, or was there no planning into getting a dog of breed that you both like and feel comfortable with? Is there no way that she will open her mind and at least learn about the breed before flying off the handle and telling you to "get rid of him." It makes no sense to me and is heartbreaking into seeing yet another staff in need of a home simply through lack of knowledge. It sounds like she's going to win this "argument," so personally I would re-home him to a forever home now where he will grow old, whilst he's still of an age that he's attractive to people; if he gets much older he'll lose his appeal!

Re: PLEASE HELP!
WOW - wonderful news that you are keeping Chaos. I'm just amazed that she wants to take over the training - doesn't she trust you with that? Glad to hear that you're taking the rest of the responsibility off her plate though, I reckon she has more than enough to deal with as it is.
Good Luck!
