In the spirit of (not) stupid questions ... haha
When baby girl comes home next week, would it be better to start as we mean to carry on and have her sleeping where we envisage her (i.e. front room)? Or would she settle better with company and so being in her crate in our room?? Or are we setting ourselves up for more anxiety later down the road?
Ease her in gently ... or the 'plaster' approach and whip it off in one go ....

probably the latter its maybe best to put her in the front room. You could make things difficult later on if she gets too used to your room and company. You may have a few disturbed nights but im sure she will be worth it

I think it is best to at least try her where you want her later on, if it works out and she starts sleeping there (after the initial first week) it will make it a lot easier in the long run.. But sometimes they are just soo cute you want them near you, I give her a week before she is in bed with you

I think it's best to start as you mean to go on. Changing the rules around and the routine might just make it a bit harder for her to grasp. It'll be annoying at first and difficult to not go running to her as soon as she gets lonely but worth it in the end.

I would start as you aim to continue. Get her a teddybear that you can rub on her mother and litter mates that will comfort her through the night. Just make sure she will be warm enough, its unbelievable the heat that the litter mates and mum will give off.

Bacchus was put in his crate downstairs from the very first night. We are sooo glad now that we have experienced his phweets. How come nobody warns you about that when you buy your first staff????

Charlie sleeps downstairs and we've had no fuss from him at all. He did come from a rescue kennels though so he may have had a week of crying at night without anyone coming to him.
