URGENT! ADVICE NEEDED.
our max is just over 6 weeks now and he comes from an abnormally large litter of 9 pups, doggy mom and dad are struggling to keep order, so when the pups are playing or fighting they are starting to hurt each other, they all went to the vet for shots today and one of them(thankfully not Max) was hurt. The vet suggested that the pups start going to their permanent homes from this weekend to avoid any more injuries. so Yolanda, breeder, has asked us to take Max on Saturday if we are fine with that. he will be 6 weeks and 4 days. i'm worried that it might be too soon and that he may struggle with bite inhibition if we take him at this stage, but can understand her concerns. What would you guys suggest??

yes go with your instinct its wrong and the oldest trick in the book to shift on pups to soon there doing what pups do they will fight/play to hard and this is an important time for there development this is when they will learn boundrys what is and is not acceptable .
tell the breeder that they really need to keep the pups untill 8 weeks or there could be problems with behavioral (fixable)issues

If the pups are hurting eachother then they can be seperated into groups, but this part of a dogs life is very important it teaches them how far they can go and how gentle they must be, so it is vital that they DO NOT go to their new homes.

The pups' parents won't stop them fighting, but the breeders should be around to step in if necessary! It would be far better to split the litter into two in order to keep the peace, rather than get the pups off to their new homes.
I honestly don't think the vet has said this at all. I'm more inclined to think that the litter is too much effort to feed/clear up after etc now that they are weened, and the breeder wants shot of them. If it was otherwise, they'd just let 3 or 4 go to new homes & keep the rest for another 2 weeks.

sorted, we're getting him at 7 weeks and 6 days. it's the only practical time to do it, because the breeders live 3hrs drive away.

I would also suggest your try and leave the pup with mum and dad and littermates as long as possible. Tell the breeder you aren't really happy to take your pup so early, ask if maybe the others are going to their new homes if yours can stay.

she said from the get go that we could leave him with his mom, dad and littermates, she was just giving us the option to take him sooner.

Re: URGENT! ADVICE NEEDED.
Ok as someone who thought they were getting an 7.5 week old pup only to be told he was 5.5 max 6 week pup i can honestly say its hard work to (even harder than having a 8-9 week old pup) we have had to teach marley bite inhibition and alot of other things to, when we first got him he still use to suckle his puppy milk out of his bowl
Id agree about splitting pups into groups and to avoid taking him so young, but if you do end up having to take him please feel free to message me and id be more than happy to help anyway i can xx
