So were thinking of adopting another rescue dog next spring. Would like to know from people who have 2 dogs,, the things we can expect and what we would need to prepare for the arrival. I know things like an extra crate or cage insurance and the food side of things. We would like a younger dog maybe under a year or just over and we are prepared to wait and not rush into things. Miley isnt an aggressive girl she is a softie with other dogs but living with another may be different. Opinions greatly appreciated Smile

Sorry I cannot give you any advise on this as I have only ever had one dog at a time, however would be very interested to see what people say.

I've got 3 dogs (2 staffords and a rescue mongrel!) don't know about a 2 1/2 yr old and another but with a 14 month old and an 8week old pup it's hell Laughing

You already know the extra cage, vet fees, insurance, food, so you're pretty much set! Twice the poop aswell Blushing Just be prepared for a manic first few weeks Laughing we've had Sierra for 4.5weeks now and it's still chaos Laughing

Bailey is fine with other dogs aswell, just introduce them slowly, a rescue would be easier as you can take Miley there to meet new dog and see how they get on! Also introduce them in a neutral place for a walk first before bringing another dog into Mileys home!

Yeah I would if I was you, I wish I'd waited a bit longer, my old girl is 8, Bailey was 14 months when we got Sierra at 7.5weeks! Would have preferred to leave a bigger age gap, but lesson learned now lol! It's hard but I wouldn't change it for anything Laughing

I just wish I had taken on board when i seen people say it was hard Laughing I didn't find 2 (Meg and Bailey) very hard, but with 2 staffords it's non stop playing Laughing such a relief when there all content and sleeping though Laughing

Wouldn't have it any other way now though ha :d

As you can see i have a staffy and ambull whos the rescue

They are both male, so i have a crate for each of them which i used from day one, so they were never left unsupervised when we were out or whatever. They are now left to free roam in the house but thats well after a year of them being together

They were fed well away from each other, etc.

In terms of money well i feed raw, so very little difference there, but i do have insurance for both etc etc it for us isn't much more expensive Smile

I would recommend getting a staff of a different age to your current girl as they are much more likely to get on with an age difference Smile

Its fantastic and you def get to see pac dynamics. Only thing i would change is i may have done a little too young but weve got through that. I have a loverly girl and boy and its perfect great to be out with them. My main reason for two was a companion for marley while i wasnt around as he would howl the street down. They get on really well together and onle thing i would suggest is keep everything equal from your point of view and they will sort everything else out. Im not gonna preach about double this or that as im sure you know about that already. I live alone and work full time so if i can do it anyone can. Best thing i did getting my guys. Best wishes

I love having 2 yes the play can get abut full on and at the moment Skye is in season so keeping an eye on them both is challenging but I love them both dearly
I think we let our hearts rule our heads though when it came to buster as his background has made walking a bit difficult but he's well worth the extra effort

I've always had 2 so knew when we got Skye she would end up with a friend and they are both a lot smaller in size than my previous gsds

Monte was 22 months when we got Frosty but Frosty was 10 mo. Old. It was fine for us but did learn they can egg each other on in the naughty department. Hey, at least I got new couches! On the other hand, nothing else too much of a surprise. They wrestle for hours each day. Just remember to crate both when you go out!
