Holly is Limping
Ahhhhh poor Holly.. I dont know what is wrong with her... she seems happy.. I am not sure what she has done but she is limping and hopping along.
I have noticed that she has started chasing the cat off the end of the deck ( less than a meter high) so i hope she hasnt jumped off there and landed on it wrong... I am worried about her...If she isnt any better tomorrow I will make her an appointment with the vet.

Poor thing, Molly was like this for a couple of days over the weekend, she was fine yesterday, think she just pulled something on a walk. She would walk on it for a bit, hop a little, then when you asked her to sit, she'd try then not be able to. Hopefully it's not too serious, she's probably just knocked something being a puppy!

Re: Holly is Limping
I have checked her pads and nails.. nothing there.
but she isnt playing... although she did run around like a pork chop last night and like i said she keeps chasing the cat off the deck.. maybe she has pulled a muscle. I hope so anyway

Good night Mel.
I've got to admit, I was worried about Molly, so much so I carried the 19kg mutt up the damn stairs to go to bed because I was worried she would hurt it more!

Re: Holly is Limping
It's probably a pull or a strain. Let her rest a bit over the next day or so. I wouldn't bother with a vet unless it gets worse, or hasn't improved with rest after a couple of days.

Re: Holly is Limping
Hey all,
she is still limping... went all over her last night to make sure she didnt have a tick... she is a little better today but it must be hurting her as she wont go down off the deck, 3 steps down, to wee...
so we are back to weeing on the deck and she hasnt been that active either.. she wouldnt play with Dan last night as they usually do for half hour or so
She has had a bought of the runs too... which i think was due to to much fat on a bone i gave her yesterday.. she didnt eat much of it but this morning she has messed her crate EVERYWHERE.. all the toys and the blankets i had to hose off at 5.30am this morning and they are in a HOT water wash at the moment,
poor baby
Wonder if it has something to do with her teething? do they suffer the same as babies when they teeth? ie runs and temps and feelng yucky?

Re: Holly is Limping
Just back from the Vets.. She gave her an injection of anti imflamatory and pain killer.. also some to come home with,
she thinks she has damaged her hip more than her leg.. if this doesnt fix it we need to have xrays $400 worth and then go from there.... kind of * me off cause now i cant get her to sign off on the insurance policy until this is resolved

no.. we had forms to fill out with the vet... should have done it at the 12 week booster appointment but i didnt realise a vet had to sign them
GRRRRR SO * with myself now..
i bought ones home and she said she would sign her off as long as it was just a muscle pull.

Re: Holly is Limping
Oh no sounds very like how Mika started out limping and then vets gave us med to put her on eased the pain did not limp as much so we went and got a Xray she dislocate both knees thats why she was hopping on one of the back legs then it would go back to normal she is getting the op tomorrow ....

I would say that she has Patella Luxation, which is an abnormality in the groove that the knee cap usually sits in. It makes the knee cap 'pop out' of its groove & causes the limp. If left untreated it can cause arthritis & joint pain.
Holly, I think, has just strained a muscle & hopefully it'll be right as rain asap!
