Tyson a rescued two year old dog
Hi, my wife and myself rescued Tyson from a local authority kennels. They couldn't tell me much about the dog except that he was chipped and when they got in touch with the owner they said they'd given him away (strange thing to do with a dog that's ment to be a pedigree), they also said he could be shy around people. He isn't a vocal dog, saying that we only had him less than a week and we haven't heard him bark even when some one knocks on the door. Now my problem is his toilet manners so to speak. I give him biscuits in the morning and he has his main meal at 5pm. He goes out in to the garden regular, taken for a walk two or three times a day(the last walk usually around 9.30pm). We will let him out into the garden around 11.30pm before bed and several times now have woken in the morning to wee or poo or both on the kitchen floor. Can some one please help me to stop him from doing this

Here is a link that might help

He will need some time to adjust to the new enviroment as well. Also what are you feeding him on. A low quality food can cause issues as well as changing foods too quickly

The toileting issue is probably down to him still being a bit confused about being re homed and all the upset that brings, if you get what I mean. Just give him some time to adjust to his new surroundings and his new family.
I'm sure once he is settled into a routine in a few weeks time it will all work itself out. Try going back to basics, let him out every hour to go to the toilet then give lots of praise when he does go.
How long do you walk him for each time ?? He would probably need about 2 * 45 minute walks each day as a minimum. Does he have chew toys and games throughout the day too? A Kong is a great toy as this will keep him busy for quite a while. They are widely available on line Amazon have some great toys too.

Re: Tyson a rescued two year old dog
When we got him we were told he'd eat anything, his poo was loose the first day we got him home, so i decided to try feeding him what i used to feed my GSD, half brawn roll with biscuits at 5pm and in the morning a small amount of winalot shapes. when he does go it is now solid compared to when we first got him

Re: Tyson a rescued two year old dog
Thanks kathytake2, at the moment o'm disabled and can manage to take him for a 20/30 min walk in the morning and my wife and stepdaughter take him for about half hour in the evening, will try to extend the times. As for toys like i said we just got him, he got a rope and ball toy which he isn't interested in and he took a shine to Alexander the meerkat that was lying around. Are staffies interested in things that make a noise?
