omg sash just been attacked

by another staffy oh just took her for a walk up the field when a male staffy(very beautiful )came at her and locked on to her back end,the dogs owner and my husband tried to pry him off,sash was screaming,his dog bite his hand,he was very sorry and gave mike his number to pay vets bill,mike got sash home just as i got in from work,she had two puncture wounds either side of her tail,she kept holding her tail up,and close inspection has a puncture wound right near her anus,we phoned the vets and they told us to bring her straight in,blood every where and all over my husband,the vet got her up on the table and we had to both hold her down,she cleaned her wounds and found four more puncture wounds down her tail,she gave her an injection of antibiotics and anti-inflammatorys,we got to starve her after 8 tonight and take her back first thing in case she needs surgery,we were given clavudale and metacam as well,the poor girl cant get comfortable as she's really swollen,i was trying to take every thing the vet was saying but cant see why sash would have to have surgery,unless they mean they need to put her out to see to these wounds on her tail as the vet said they were down to the bone and will need stitching,she's still bleeding from them but the vet said that would happen,why oh why did this happen??we just phoned the man who's dog it was and he is up the hospital having his hand seen to.

the guys just been on the phone seeing how she is,he thanked us for taking it so well,in a way im glad it was my husband,im sure id been no good at all

Poor Sash >< >< Unfortunately it sounds like just one of them things that happens from time to time. I'm guessing that if the guy was responsible enough to act as he has and phone you up etc he was not one of "them owners" , no doubt you will find out a bit more soon when you speak again

True. At least he sounds like he's sorry - good of him to offer to pay for any treatment.

I would think that the vet will want to see if the wounds will close on their own or not - if they need stitching then she'll have to have anaesthetic, hense the need to starve.

she's just fallen asleep now,next to me so hopefully meds are kicking in.

Thats a horrible ordeal for all concerned ... hope the wounds heel quickly and the surgery goes ok

Maybe "bottom burps" - because she's feeling unhappy and stressed? Or, as Andy says, the anti-biotics.

Could be her anal glands, they can spontaneously empty or secrete under stress... And considering what she's been thru tonight !

Aww poor thing. Hope she heals okay without surgery. this may sound stupid now but if there iis a possibility of meeting this dog on a walk again id arrange with the owner to have some on lead controlled meetings. Even just sitting ten foot away from each other giving the dogs a chance to communicate with body language. It will be tense at first but after about 15 mins they will start to get bored and ignore each other. Will help poor sash get over the ordeal and the other dog not to see her as a threat. Could make for a safe walk in the future and give her confidence back
The guy sounds quite responcible and shocked at the whole affair so should be good if he could help give sash her confidence back. Give her a stroke from me bless her

nathan i was wondering how she'll be with other dogs now,she's not to good with them at the best of times but just ignores them,just hoping this does'nt make her worst

Poor Sash!! Big healing hugs from us >< , the smell is probably the tablets and stress as suggested, the wounds are to fresh to be creating a strong odour. As for her with around other dogs, try not to worry, give her time. After my dog was attacked, we went back to basics, lead walk at a distance around other dogs, then decreased the distance, lots of praise and patience.
It's little consolation but I'm glad to hear the other owner has taken responsibility for his dogs actions, we hear to many stories of irresponsible ones. I also hope his hand gets better too.

I wouldnt too much. The reason i gave that advice is thats what i did when marley got attacked bye a gsd and got his snout bitten up.
Hes now friends with that very same dog as am i with its owner. I would always says caution but its worth a try for a quiet walk mate. Anyhow hoping your girl makes a full recovery

Steff got bitten just a few days ago and the vet gave her a shot of anti biotics and now she is on oral anti biotics and she is rank too much much worse than usual So perhaps it is like Andy said and it's the anti biotics

had a bit of a rough night with her jackie,have been up since just after 4 as she could'nt get settled,she's bleed quite a bit but a little blood looks a lot some times,just getting ready for the vets at 9,i'm so hoping she does'nt have to be put under

Hope all went ok this morning

Poor Sasha, hopefully she will be fine, the tail doesn't have that much covering which is probably why she is in pain. Poor chicken give her hugs and kisses from us. Hope she's ok and keep us updated. I'm glad the man didn't run off and has stayed in contact, hopefully he and sash will be ok
