Look at what LA just did--banned the sale of all dogs (and cats and rabbits) through pet stores unless they are from a rescue. You can still buy a dog from a breeder if you want a purebred and don't want to rescue so I believe this wouldn't impact responsible breeders (as you all know I think ours is wonderful).

Doesn't address who is a good and who is a bad breeder among private breeders which I know is a big problem. Still, it looks like a good idea. Many puppies here do come from pet stores so I think it would have an impact. And it would raise the profile of rescue dogs. Would it help in the UK?

There are pressure groups & petitions here to stop the sale of live animals from pet shops & on sites like gumtree & facebook.

Whether it'll happen or not I could even hazzard a guess! Well done LA, though, for at least making an effort! thumbs up

Thats great! I got so mad when paris shilton talked about her favorite pet store selling all sorts like monkeys, sugargliders, chipmunks and strange things that noone should have as pets.
