Toys for the new baby
Hello!!
As some of you will know, we have just taken on a 2 year old rescue. She seemed a bit bored and although she came with everything, she didn't have any toys. I found her a ball, and she had great fun playing fetch.... Then she ate some of it so I guess it wasn't strong enough for her mouth.......... She now is destroying a stick that is pretty much the size of a tree. ( She loves it but Ohhhhhhh the mess! LOL) Before I head to the pet shop and waste money on something that'll last 1 minute....... What toys should I get her??

Kongs are great and last a good while. The black one is the best. They also sell a filler but peanut butter works just as well.

If she's anything like my 2 she will love a Stag Bar! Can get them from amazon or Pets At Home.
Some people also have a Boomer Ball for there staffs, can't comment on those as I've not got one!
Bailey also gets the wee £1 squeaky rubber balls from pets at home and usually destroys them within 2 minutes but he still plays with them even when there in half

Yes, a kong's good. Stag Bars are great for a chewer - they are natural (so no nasty additives) and last quite a while as long as you get the biggest one possible! Pets at Home sell them or you can get them online.
Boomer Balls are good for playing with outside (too big & hard for inside!). You can get those on Amazon - get the 8" or 10" one.
I bought Dempsey a Kong Stick recently & that's lasting well...

Re: Toys for the new baby
If she is anything like Moo she doesn't like things that she can't destroy, boomer ball she barks at, stag bar has a little more interest, but her fav is cheap toys that she can destroy, de fluff and generally just make a mess with

Re: Toys for the new baby
Stag bar definatly, Zeus loves his.
I've also got a Boomer Ball which he plays with occasionally, and another good one I picked up on this forum is a coconut. If you take all the hair off and take the water out, its a much cheaper alternative for a toy. Just make sure you check it after a week or two because it'll start to mould inside.

Re: Toys for the new baby
I would recommend the Chuck It balls from Amazon, they have proven to be Rocky proof so should be OK for your new baby:

Or any of these below would be great:

Re: Toys for the new baby
My Bailey is the same as yours. We have bought this ball, in the hope that it will be a good investment, it is a bit pricey for a balls, but we go through LOADS of them, and I dont like him eating sticks. I will let you know how we get on when it arrives.

Re: Toys for the new baby
Everything listed above also Wilkinsons do heavy rubber balls that last quite well (Ledger just destroys orange ones but blue and red are ok for some reason)
I get cheap tennis balls/footballs every now and then just for him to rip apart and also attack the charity shops for stuffed toys he rips the faces off them all and loves destuffing mostly I just re-stuff them and the fun starts again but at 50p a toy it doesn't really matter just need to give them a good squeeze test i've been caught out a couple of times when they have had the little bean bags inside which are not so fun to pick up off the carpet

Got a Stag bar on order and a Kong toy!! YAY, have to find something other than peanut butter to put in it unless I get a good stock on Epipen's in! lol. Popped her to the pet shop, she was so good. She got a squeaky ball and a tug rope...... Poor thing has no idea how to play tug but loves playing fetch! The squeak is no longer working..... She's a bit upset! lol xxxxx

Re: Toys for the new baby
Ours love their stag bars, never touch their kongs, love the knotted rope type toys especially the ones made to look like a big knotted ball, these last them for ages and because they are made of cotton rope they don't harm their gums, in fact they get a good flossing out of playing with them ( our vet recommended the small ones when they were teething too!)
They love a plastic pop bottle with the lid on, especially when there is some kibble or other treats inside they have to get them out.
Ours are allowed to help themselves to logs out of the log basket and these are great for letting them have a good chew as long as you don't mind a room that looks like a demented beaver has been at work in there
Charlie loves anything with a squeak although it doesn't last long and his favourite toy of all time has to be a heavy rubber ball on a rope, how he hasn't concussed himself with it I'll never know the way he shakes and throws it around
Oh I forgot one of our neighbours gave us an old unwanted croquet set and the balls in that are very hard plastic the size of tennis balls and these are great garden toys, in 18 months they haven't managed to kill any of them

Re: Toys for the new baby
They look fun, trying her with cheap toys for now as she didn't really know how to play, she really is enjoying fetch now and as of yesterday is asking us to play where as before we would have to really push her. She is a bit scared of her rope toy is gets worried when playing tug with me..... Bless her! I think a Kong stick will work well as she now loves ripping apart sticks in the woods after we've thrown them lol, xxxxxx
