i'm having a real problem with Romeo chewing things he is not allowed to, like wooden furnature. i dont belive in scolding him unless i catch him in the act, but its very hard to do o since he only does it when i'm not home. Its starting to be a real problem since now he chews stuff at other peoples homes, i have to get him to stop, now. any suggestions?

Vicks or bitter apple. We can simply show Suki her bitter apple bottle and she will stop.

Vicks Vapour rub - smear it on anything he's likely to chew. It'll make the house smell awful, but at least your furniture will be in one piece!

What about a kong stuffed with something while you're not there to keep him busy?

Have you tried to use a water squirt bottle. This worked great for Rocky and still does when need be. Just give a squirt of water when he goes near anything you dont want him to chew.

Does he have full run of the house ?
Kinda sounds like a boredom problem, which leads him to chew to keep him occupied.
If he has full run, smear vaporub on things he's likely to chew and leave a cpl of stagbars out for him smeared in peanut butter they will really tempt him to focus on the tasty stuff rather than the icky stuff !

i have the same problem except its outside wooden post which hold up the patio ceiling/roof....she has taken two chunks out which means i have to now fill and mould shape back with putty and paint it but have it fenced off for now but also obviously dont wanna keep it fenced permanently, might try vicks or anything else ppl know may work and see what happens, esp since im only renting.....owning a staffy really does change the landscape of ur backyard

What about online for stag bars. They are a life saver for Frosty who is a compulsive chewer. I use bitter apple and it helps, but it has to be reapplied regularly.

My last Staffy was a chewer, big problem for a while. She would be fine when I left her with free roam in the house for a few days, but then outta the blue she would eat everything. Shoes, tv remote chairs..... Anything other than her toys. So........ I comfind her to one room when I left the house or went to bed. When she behaved she was given free roam again. WHen she chewed again....... Back to 1 small room. It took time but after a while she stopped altogether thankfully. She also liked vicks, lemon juice and so on.......... I would also show her the damage she caused, she knew what she'd done and after a while realized she was being shut in a room because of it, so she stopped! Good luck xxxxxxxx
