Dear foolish woman at the park...
.....I am sorry to have shouted at you today. Well I'm not really but I'm polite so I will pretend to say sorry.
I shouted at you because you seemed to think it was completely acceptable to allow your off lead dog to belt over to my on lead dog and proceed to not only jump all over him but attempt to shove his nose right up my dogs backdoor. Which incidentally is exit only.
Moving on to your reaction to this, can I just point out a couple of things?
1) Standing around twenty five feet away bleating your dogs name is not effective handling.
2) Your dog did not listen to you anyway, move your * next time!
3) Your dog is VERY lucky that my boy is a tolerant patient soul.
4) I am not so patient or tolerant and that's exactly why I called you a blithering idiot.
May I suggest getting some good training dvds and perhaps eating less pies, thus enabling you to hoist yourself over the park to retrieve your poor dog, who is the best thing about you but because of you and your idiocy puts himself at risk, (and yes I have seen him doing it to other dogs, one of which nearly took his ear off last week).
Yours with utter disappointment
Rachael and Dexter

Sounds like me on a good day
I do wonder sometimes if people should have to take some sort of intelligence test before getting a dog!!

Stupid of her, but at least Dexter was good
I reckon Loki would do this (unless it was a big dog, then he'd be calmer at first and then go wild), so every time I see a dog in the distance I put him back on the lead just in case. Don't see what's so difficult about it; it stops your dog or another dog from possibly getting harmed.

Dear Rachael and Dexter, While me and sky were out walking [on lead] another dog came over to us, i said call your dog plz it might get bit, she ignored me saying he can look after his self. the dog got closer i repeated my warning [still nothing]. next think sky nipped her dog on the nose, that was your fault i told the owner. I warned YOU not the DOG.

Re: Dear foolish woman at the park...
This is it isn't it, like Tara says if you do have an excitable dog it's up to you to act accordingly so that everything is as safe as possible.
I would never usually make a remark about someones weight, but she really was an obvious lump and could not be bothered to come get him, I hate being harsh tbh but the whole thing had me fuming. Her dog actually began following us out of the park!!!
I have met a few staffy owners on our walks, aswell as a few other bull breeds and not once have I thought keep your dog under control cos guess what, they were already behaving perfectly, and the owners were also very pleasant!

Re: Dear foolish woman at the park...
What a pain in backside, we really can do without these people having dogs. Glad you feel able to let off steam here.
Something similar to this happens to me nearly every time I take Rocky out for a walk. There will be at least one unruly dog running around with no owner in sight or at least 30 meters away. The dog will then proceed to jump all over Rocky who is now so calm he will just stand there and let them do it.
I agree anyone who wishes to own a dog should have to pass some kind of test first.

Re: Dear foolish woman at the park...
You cringe really because you know there is no way in hell you would be that far away from your dog in that situation, and no way you would just stand back unawares while it harassed other dogs. If I wasn't so worried that her dog might get bitten (he was pushing his luck so hard and Dex had gone very very still and tense) I would have laughed at her inability to recall. They were playing with a ball initially, but her dog is more other dog focused so he loses interest as soon as he sees another four legged furry and she really needs to get it in check. The other day it was a great dane he was messing about with and as I mentioned it didn't go too well. Can I just ban her from the dog park? There would be collective sigh of relief I think!

Re: Dear foolish woman at the park...
It is stupid. If your recall isn't perfect then the very least you can do is get them back on the lead when you see another dog. I've had off-lead dogs run up to Loki, but none of them have been aggressive, they've all been either relaxed/curious or just as excited as Loki, so Loki isn't the type to get annoyed by it. But even a well-behaved dog shouldn't be allowed to just run up to strange dogs because for all they know, the other dog is aggressive.

It's opened my eyes to a whole new world of human daftness since we got Dexter. Thank heavens for the sanity of this forum, I can have a whinge about it and everyone knows how it feels!

Re: Dear foolish woman at the park...
Sadley its something you will come accross now and then. I had to chuckle today as a woman was desperatly trying to get her dog on leed when she saw my two coming. Marley had seen a deer 15 mins before and was in hunt mode. His whole body language changes and ingores everything but looks and acts a bit wild. She looked realy perplexed as the dog she was desperatly trying to "save" was totaly ignored and ended up following marley. Even better was we stopped at a woodland cafe for a coffee and a bloody fantastic coronation chicken sarnie with two small kiddies petting the hounds and said woman being dragged passed. I gave her a wave as she slipped on by
