Sad Poor poorly Maddie

Post by Sar H Tue Nov 06 2012, 11:45

This morning, after our walk, I noticed drops of blood on the kitchen floor. Maddie was spayed about 2 months ago (before we got her) and the stitches have got all lumpy and purple. Cue a panicky trip to the vet. Maddie is now on antibiotics (and hubby will be depressed when he hears it has cost nearly £100 Surprised )

She is very upset with us.

Should the stitches have been taken out by now, 2 months sounds like a long time for them to be in place ??

Apparently the internal stitches that dissolve can get sore and irritated. I also would have thought they would have dissolved by now...

Maddie had a visit to the vet last week (check up, intro etc just to get her onto the system) and the vet then noticed her lumpy scar. She said everything looked fine at the time. It looked far from fine this morning, it looked really sore Sad

She hates the cone, but is asleep with her head on hubby's knee at the moment, poor girl.

Well, today we took the blimmin' collar off. She has been difficult all week, and a nightmare on a lead (we couldn't use the gentle leader with the cone on).

She is a different dog! She is now asleep on her back with her head on hubby's hip (the snoring is drowning out the TV Big Grin ). On her walk tonight she was an angel. The nasty sore lumps have almost gone, and the vet will check her on Tuesday.

We have our little Maddie back!
