Dont let your dog run up to a dog on a lead
(Then blame the other dog for not liking it!)

Do check out insurance... if not for the vet bills, then cover yourself with a third party liability. It brings peace of mind as people are all to quick to blame.

Dont leave anything lying around thats dangerouse to a dog if chewed. even if your only popping out the room for a second.
Register with a vet and program the 24 hour emergancy number into all phones. you dont want to be hunting down a number while your dog is extreamly ill or injured.

Don't allow object fixations, while cute and good for recall it can cause fights and resource guarding.
(today I saw a GSD tried and take a blind person's stick off them to play with while the owner sauntered along 50 m behind, oblivious. I was angry, thankfully the poor person has a decent right foot and the GSD hoofed it)

Don't leave any breed of dog unsupervised with a young child , this is for both safety of dog and child. ( perhaps emphasise importance if teaching children to respect dogs)
