Are there any good training DVD's out there?
Hi, i am new to the forum but thought it was the best place to find some info about training my girlfriends staffie.
He is about 18 months old and has started getting more and more disobedient, just wondered wether there are any dvd's or books anyone would recommend for trying to train him, mainly because then i can prove to my partner that because its there in black and white that i am not just making it up as i go along.
any advice would be much appreciated.

Hi, why don't you give us a little introduction about yourself and your Staff? Just on this link: https://staffy-bull-terrier.niceboard.com/f7-new-member-introductions
Anyway, I can't recommend any training DVDs or books because I haven't used any, but there are a lot of different training methods, so it depends on what the problems are and how you try to fix them. Sorry I'm no help, but hopefully someone will be along later who has experience of training DVDs

I will get a post put in that section with some pics when i get home.
I think i am basically going to have to train him from scratch because he just does what he wants, when he wants. i will have a search on here for training methods. what would you say are the most important commands to teach him first.

I have been taking Densil to dog training classes - he is a bit older at 3 1/2. The trainer said the first thing to teach a dog is name recognition - a lot of dogs think their name is "no". Call his name and when he swings his head around to look at you say "good" and reward him with a treat. You can then start progressing to things like sit and recall. I do hope you find a dvd and if you do please put a link on here as I would like to get one as well - Densil has done his basic training but I want to teach the stay command next (not the wait command which is different).
