Poor, poor dog. Empty Poor, poor dog.

A friend on the bully forum heard a scratching noise the other night which sent her bullies wild at the back door. When she opened the door, this is what she found:

She took the poor thing in, and took it to the vets the following day. They took several tests, but it seems the dog had Leish, and it was too far gone for treatment. Even had it been caught earlier, it's often fatal. Someone must have watched this poor thing gradually deteriorate & done nothing about it, eventually kicking him out into the street. He was a gentle, friendly boy & got on well with her other dogs.

The vet couldn't even put the dog to sleep, as it was microchipped with contact details in the UK (the friend lives in Spain), so she took him back home, gave him a warm meal & let him settle onto a nice soft bed.

He died peacefully the next day.

Caryll this has really upset me how could anyone do this to a dog. Pity we cannot put them on the street's and just leave them. There are some really sick people out there. Sad

Oh my god. That is bloody horrendous! Who the hell would allow that to happen?! I just dont get how anyone could watch that kind of suffering and not do anything about it. That poor dog, god only knows what it went through. A least its last day or two was spent on a nice warm bed in a house, not out on the street like garbage. Thats truly shocked me. RIP gorgeous boy, run free.

The trouble is, he was probably sold to someone in Spain in good faith. It's what happened since that's the problem. Leish (the condition that brought him to this) is caused by the bite of the sand fly & is usually incurable. But the poor animals can be given peace once it's diagnosed - not left to end up like that!

Sand Fly?.... we have thousands of them here?...... is it the same ones that do the damage?.. I have been bitten heaps of times... one of my friends had over 200 bites on his legs....
I am worried now cause sand flie are everywhere here

I think it's mainly confined to the mediterranean areas. It's like there are mosquitoes everywhere, but it's only in certain countries that they carry malaria.

This is terrible....some people. How sad, the poor dog.
The only conformt from this story is that the dog got some love and comfort in his final hours and that he is no longer in a pain.

I know, it's scary, isn't it. Mind you, apparently when they swarm you can get absolutely thousands of them & they can all damn near bite at once.

The day you 'get used to it' is the day you become hard-hearted. I don't think anyone who takes the welfare of an animal seriously ever gets used to it.

The thing that gets me is the people who do this have the pet for years first. It destroys me everytime I have to have a dog put down from old age. To have a pet.....build a bond for years and then this......my head can't get round how these people tick.
