playing dead....
So i enjoy doing training with diesel at least once a day, my oh calls it her "routine" although i always mix it up, but lately i've been trying to teach her to play dead and its just not working.......more down to my training methods than her i reckon...
I taught her to bark in response when i say "who's my girl" (so cute lol) by saying it and making the hand signal for speak and treating when she got it right and she got it in no time,,,,so i thought the same technique with playing dead would work. say bang and make a wee bit of a subtle roll over hand signal to give her a hint of what i'm wanting her to do....so when i say bang she does roll onto her back....problem is she only stops for a second and continues her roll.....i've tried praising her lots when she stops mid roll and not prasing when she does complete roll but half the time she just looks at me as if to say "what the hell are u wanting from me u mad woman??? give me the treat!!"

Re: playing dead....
When Loki was on his back, I'd give him the "stay" hand signal so he'd stay there. Maybe that'll help? Cute though, they are fast learners but it's funny when they're really trying and they're just not quite there yet

aww i know she just looks so confused and i know its all my fault!
i couldn't believe what quick learners they are, 1st week or so i had her i had her sitting and lying down....couldnt get her to stop attacking my feet but least she'd sit pretty
I've even taught her without treats for some little things. shes just so eager to please! think thats what makes me feel worse coz shes trying so hard but just not understanding me! i'll give the "stay" a go tho x

Re: playing dead....
in theory you get them to lie down then running your hand down the side of her, not touching and as she tries to follow your hand she'l end up on her back......thats the theory i got told anyway....half the time diesel just jumped back up to see what my hand was doin , but got there is the end

Re: playing dead....
I think with these tricks it's just down to practice, practice. I'm sure you will both get there in the end.
