Bad leg/shoulder :(
Percy has just got down from the sofa and now can't use his front right leg...he didn't do a huge jump down or land badly as I could see but he's definitely done something to his leg/shoulder he can't hold his weight at all on it, and is obviously in discomfort.
I have phoned the vets and they have suggested to let him rest and see is that makes any difference, as I've said in other posts, I'm such a softy and inside I'm panicking big time hate seeing him in discomfort and pain.
So now I'm thinking how long does he rest before I decide if it's making a difference?
He was also sick this morning after breakfast, was fine before breakfast and fine after being sick....all toilets were fine and he enjoyed his walk so I was thinking the sick was "just one of those" things, but now I'm wondering if maybe there's a link between them?

Re: Bad leg/shoulder :(
See how he is in the morning, try not to fret (easier said than done) but I doubt its anything to worry about, for now keep him still, only outside for toilets, I'm sure by morn there will be a difference and imo I doubt it has anything to do being sick Xx

Re: Bad leg/shoulder :(
Thanks Janey I ended up taking him into the vets as he started to cry and shake and just seemed to be in a lot more pain than earlier in the afternoon.
The vet thinks he may have broken a toe!!!! He's had an injection with painkillers and anti-inflammatorys and we're back at 9am tomoz for an X-ray he only got down from the sofa, must of just caught his toe in the wrong way.

Re: Bad leg/shoulder :(
Thanks Dave think the drugs have taken the edge off it for him, he's managed some food and even a wobbly wee he's now snoozing away on a cushion from the sofa (was a compromise to stop him trying to get on the sofa lol)
Only Percy could possibly break a toe by just calmly getting of the sofa

Re: Bad leg/shoulder :(
Oh Lor - poor Percy and so worrying for you.
Much the same sort of thing happened to Kuchar a couple of months ago, in the middle of the night he was panting, distressed, running a temp, and then went off his legs. In a BIG panic we went to the 24 hour vet at 4am who couldn't find anything wrong with him except the high temp, a belly full of bone (we've learned THAT lesson now!) and lame on his hind leg.
£500 later we were told to take Kuchar to our own vet when they opened.
Home for a a couple of hour's rest, and Kuchar was right as rain! No limp or anything!
Hoping Percy is just being as wussy as Kuchar was, and that all will be well tomorrow.
Do let us know how he is getting on. ><

Re: Bad leg/shoulder :(
Been back to the vets this morning, Percy is walking and jumping around like nothing happened yesterday, but then stops and limps when he remembers its sore ...the vets thinks it is either a nasty sprain or possibly a small fracture, but being a typical staffy now he's had some pain relief he thinks he's fine.
So he hasn't given him anymore drugs today as he said a small amount of pain will remind Percy not to jump around like a loony and stay calm (well that's the plan any way)
He wants to wait a few more days before doing an X-ray, as he thinks mother nature will do its job and only being 5 months he's young enough to bounce back (literally) Lol
So now we have to try and keep Percy calm?!?!? And short on lead walks till Friday when we go back again.
Thanks for everyone's cyber hugs and well wishes,
Hugs and licks back to everyone from Percy >< X

Re: Bad leg/shoulder :(
Hope he is okay. Sounds like lots of training and mental stimulation to tire him out for now

Re: Bad leg/shoulder :(
Her limps nearly gone now, its the next few weeks of building the exersize back up that is also going to be draining! Roll on 6/8 weeks when she'll be back to normal doing normal staffy things!
They do cope, Moo takes herself off to bed now rather than lying there staring at the door making me feel guilty!

Re: Bad leg/shoulder :(
Just a quick update, no X-ray needed, his toe has healed fine so was probably just a sprain.....and he's allowed off the lead again....
